Yeah if only I was mature enough to hop on a bandwagon and try to troll. I know your intent is to try to get a rise out of me, but you'll have to try a lot harder than that

In 2001, 8-year-old WSE could've told you that David Beckham played for Manchester United. That's about it.
He didn't dive into his love for all things United until 2003, when American Tim Howard joined the club.

Nah, just a statement of likely fact. I, for one, have no shame in admitting I didn't know anything about soccer prior to 2005/2006 or so. The only soccer that was basic cable was the World Cup every four years, the CL Final on ESPN, and maybe a random EPL match or highlight show on Fox Sports at like 2 in the morning. The 06 World Cup coincided with me graduating college and getting a job and finding out that for $5 a month I could get FSC and GolTV. I've stated how I started following Chelsea (while I knew they were good and had heard of them I had no idea they were back to back EPL champs while watching Essien play against Italy in the WC).
Also, when your favorite team is BY FAR the most popular club in your chosen league it's pretty lame to throw out the "bandwagon" label.

Yea anything at all I knew about club soccer before 06 was from FIFA 98 and FIFA 2002. I pretty much thought Man Utd won everything every year.

Well Randy, I have pretty strong German ties. My grandma's friends would come in from Germany every summer. I would hear stories about these great players, I'd research them at my grandma's house and watch the occasional game when I could. I knew that Kahn was the best keeper of his generation, Mehmet Scholl was a beast, Elber scored a ridiculous amount of goals and Lizarazu and Sagnol were ridiculous French wingbacks.
My grandma herself wasn't a big soccer fan so I didn't develop a fandom for her hometown team, but Bayern was the team her friend talked about most. Mostly in broken arse English.

If only...
To be honest, I had heard of United because of FIFA and the fact that Becks played for them. I started leaning towards United because of those games and they were on TV from time to time.
2003 was back when I was HUGE into playing soccer, and I had some subscription to this Kid's soccer magazine. They had an Americans Abroad type section, and I remember reading about Timmy going to United. I was hooked after that, keeping up with the team through the Internet.
Almost a decade later, and I'm watching every United match on TV of some sort while writing daily about the game. I'm addicted to this club and the sport in general. United was the gateway...now I do stuff like I did today, attempt to watch eight Champions League matches at a time. It's awesome.
It truly is a love relationship you that have with your favorite team.

Which is all fine and good. I knew Kahn just from the World Cups. Was Scholl on the 1999 team that lost to Utd? That was the first club soccer match I ever watched and I just happen to stumble upon it after school one day. Wasn't even sure what I was watching. Crazy it turned out to be one of the greatest games/endings ever.
Fine by me, I don't judge how anyone picks their team (unless it's by asking the soccer board who they should like). I just hate when American Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern, Barca, Real etc... throw out "bandwagon" at someone else. It makes no sense.

Just text me any time we need to bring up our trophy cabinet. I'm good at talking about that. If you want to talk about the past 5 years..pshh..what 5 years?

My girlfriend gets jealous.
I'm dead serious. It becomes a problem sometimes.

This is how I'm treating this college football season. It hasn't started yet has it?

Scholl played for Bayern for like 15 years. Bayern fans love him. Wouldn't be surprised if he's the next bayern manager, if Pep turns down the job.

That's why you convert her to becoming a soccer fan.
Luckily my girlfriend played soccer as a kid (we even played on the same team for a few years in our tiny coed rural South Alabama league), so she enjoys watching with me. It took me a few years, but I've gotten her to follow Man U and Seattle.
I called her today and, no lie, she was watching today's United match on tape delay. I almost cried on the phone in pure joy.

The last 3 guys shes dated all were fans of other EPL teams. She's damaged goods, and so its hard to get her to be loyal to one team in general. However, she always gets into USMNT games.

This is beautiful. I would give anything.

Decent result today with our injury problems. I hate fricking Portuguese. Stupid, diving bastards.
Brown motm. Their left back had a brilliant game. Forster deserves an England call up. Hope Ledley and Kayal are back for the next match.

As long as it gets its own shirt to wear on match days, then yes.

i would, he's probably about to get fired from bayern2. they cant fricking score and only one team even has the chance for promotion this year with the league changes.
