Tonight was astonishingly bad so I choose to find something positive to focus on.

One of the more disappointing aspects about tonight is we don’t get to see Balogun play any more with this group in this tournament because the rest of the team outside of Tillman let him down. He is quickly becoming a world class striker and about to get picked up by an elite club. He didn’t score tonight but he has been the best striker in the tournament other than Haaland and Kane. Don’t follow Ligue Une at all because it sucks so I actually didn’t realize just how good he was until this tournament. He is basically good at everything you need in a forward and he has no weaknesses. The U.S. has never had a true striker of this caliber and it should be fun to follow and watch him wherever he ends up.

Balogun is an average premier league striker. There’s not much more to him without a supporting cast. It’s whatever

Yeah bro, true #9s need supporting casts to succeed. I would view that as a downside case for him, but even that came to pass, he would still be better than anyone we have ever had at the position.

balogun is a good striker, but not having a physical presence in midfield or on the wings hurts. Pulisic and Balogun at the top together was like watching a pinball getting shot around the board

Which is substantially better than we've ever had, and will ever have, unless we breed a Haaland

I don’t even think he’s average in that league. He may be a back up for a mid table team. He’s already just an average striker in Ligue 1. Prem is much more difficult

Dating back to February 21, he scored in eight consecutive league games (including 10 goal contributions in his last 10 club games). This tied with the 2025–26 top five European league season record goalscoring streak shared only by Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid (eight goals).[49] Balogun's streak was also one goal away from the 21st-century Ligue 1 goalscoring streak record.[50] Balogun finished the 2025–26 season as Monaco's top scorer with 19 goals and four assists in all competitions, and the league's fourth top scorer with 13 goals.[51] For his season performances, he was named the 2025–26 Monaco Player of the Season.[49]
