Simeone's seriously studying an attacking trident of Griezmann, Diego Costa, and Morata.

Yeah you need three people to form a three headed attack

Morata understands the game, and can pass. He's no classic nine, and I doubt Simeone sees him that way.

Maybe, they do center him, and let him act as decoy/dummy and to provide play to Griezmann and Costa.

Costa did it for the Colombian who blew his knee out (his name starts with an R and he went to Monaco, I'm sorry I don't recall his name for the life of me). It worked well.

ETA. Falcão!!!!!

That is a really gay attack when you compare it to 2010-11 with Aguero/Forlan/Costa

I don't recall ever seeing all three together on the pitch.

Costa didn't really do much of note with AtM, until he came back from his loan at Rayo Vallecano...

I may be misremembering and they sent Costa on loan. It was right after he left Valladolid.

They usually ran out Simao/Agüero/Forlan up front if I recall correctly

I’ve never paid a whole lot of attention to La Liga just because it’s harder to watch, but I will remember not being super convinced on signing Aguero and then he debuted and I was amazed at how good he was

There was also a weird rivalry between Forlan and Jose Antonio Reyes, from what I remember. This might also be gossip bullshite.

I miss the days when La Liga was on GolTV and they had games on all day.

You have to be able to bring the ball under control to pass it. And his only understanding of the game seems to be to clumsily run at defenders and then fall down when inevitably dispossessed. He's terrible.

He reminds of Nicklaus Bendtner. A player who looks the part of a center forward, doesn't have great skill on the ball but somehow gets into great positions only to fluff his lines. Morata did get into good positions but it made me cringe how he would miss chances.

A much shittier Bas Dost

But Dost can actually finish. He's more like a retarded version of Giroud without any skill with his back toward goal. Giroud is a far better finisher than Morata too.

Of the strikers bought that summer, Lacazette is playing the best, in my view. Lukaku doesn't have really good technique, and he's effectively a poacher in the body of a target-man. Morata did have good enough movement to get into good positions, but he just couldn't finish at a level to justify his price tag. This is also to say that all three of those players weren't worth the price tag. You can't get any real value anymore in the market.

Which is why I called him a much shittier version

Impossible to argue this. He is a complete forward. Has pace, is good on the ball and holds up play very well.

Jesus isn’t a world beater week in and out (yet), but thank God we got him for a measly £30 mil. I am already wondering what the club’s plan is once against Aguero goes back to Boca. Been rumblings of Dybala, but he isn’t a true 9.

Jesus was a steal. Lots of natural instinct you don't really see in European strikers anymore. It will probably be a good idea to invest in the next generation of South Americans, like Real has, as that's where I think you can find value. I thought that City found another gem in Iheanacho, as he had a lot of natural finishing ability too, but he hasn't yet found his footing. Lots of time for him to develop though.
