Asia WC 2014 Qualifying Today

Finishes up today.
Australia is through via win over Iraq. Japan had already locked up its spot.
South Korea plays Iran at 7 while Uzbekistan plays Qatar at the same time. Korea is in drivers seat while Uzbekistan needs to win. Iran looking good if they tie.
The two third place teams in each group will play a home and home to decide who will lose to the 5th place CONMEBOL team.

More bad news for Uzbekistan as Iran take the lead in Seoul. As it stands, Iran and South Korea would qualify, with Uzbekistan headed for a playoff with either Jordan or Oman.

Uzbekistan now 3-1 up on Qatar, but Iran still lead South Korea.
That would have Iran through as group winners and South Korea and Uzbekistan level on 14 points. Not sure if they use goal difference or head-to-head, but South Korea would qualify either way.

Sounds like it may be goal difference, and Uzbeks are now 5-1 up. Stand by for potential oh shite.
ETA: Nope. Uzbeks fall just short and Korea through. Korea (14 pts, +6) ahead of Uzbekistan (14 pts, +5)

Crazy ending. I wonder if Qatar threw the game at the end. Asian qualifying has a history of that.
