When Gotze moves to Real Madrid, he and Ozil are going to ruin your panties.

It'll be a couple of years. By then: Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Man City will be the only teams that can afford him.

From English youth squads:
Jack Wilshere
Benik Afobe
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Henri Lansbury
Emmanuel Frimpong (declared for Ghana)
Gavin Hoyte
Luke Freeman
Nicholas Yennaris
Chuks Aneke
Jack Jebb
Chuba Akpom
Austin Lipman
Isaac Hayden

Youth National team squads don't mean much of anything. A large majority of those players will never sniff the EPL, even for bottom table teams.

I'm just wondering why Wilshere is the only English-born Arsenal first-teamer worth a shite out of the academy.

I know that the EPL is more about buying established players than bringing them up through the club, but it seems like Arsenal should be an exception to that trend.

Arsenal has been relying on Foreign players for years to play beautiful, possessive, continental soccer.

After the stadium was built moreso. We had an All English backline for 20 years or so. English players are expensive. We haven't been able to buy them. Also we bought Francis Jeffers, an enormous bust, and that's made Wenger gun-shy with English talent.

It seems like there should be more of a commitment to create an English Fabregas, an English Nasri, An English Henry, ect.

I don't necessarily see why there should be a commitment. Our only obligation should be to win games and trophies.

We've produced one of the best LB's in the world, and in this coming class, we've already produced the next great English international, and the next English LB. We've also had to let go of a lot of players because of bad attitudes. This next class of players including Frimong, who chose to represent Ghana over England, should be very good, as they will be one of the first classes to spend their entire life in the academy since it was reorganized.

It can be an economicaly viable option. At the same time, there's a for club and country mindset in America. I guess English clubs aren't as committed to the national team success as American clubs are. There are several logical reasons for this, to go along with patriotism.
