I don't think Eboue was that bad this game.

The problem i have with him is he was never a threat to score. When he pushed up you would see either wilshere or fabregas drop off to play D.

Shocking.

Maybe Busquets can get an Arsenal player sent off 15 min. in like last year against Inter.

meta-arshavin's shirt:

not really much else I can say that hasn't already been said. I'm bewildered at how well Wilshere was last night. Incredible that a 19 year old can put on that kind of performance against the best club in the world.

Looking forward to the return leg. I believe that 2-1 is a manageable score to build upon to go through. I think that it benefits us that we play Leyton Orient, Stoke, Birmingham, and Sunderland b/t now and then. No disrespect to those sides, but we could have a much tougher slate with any other combination of 4 teams. The only thing I'm cynical about is Song's near certainty of picking up a yellow next time around and missing out on the next round should we actually go through.

Hopefully Diaby will be back if we do advance. Depending on who we draw that could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Also I don't think it's fair to say that other than his goal RvP had a poor game. I think he did quite well in terms of the style we were trying to implement. He dropped deep, sometimes very deep just ahead of the back 4. His control and link-up was exceptional, and his technical abilities rarely failed him. Should he have done better one a shot or two? Sure, but no striker is going to hit the golden window on every attempt. Here's to his health because he's been our best player since the new year.

eta: also, a player/blogger named Rohan Ricketts Nostradamos'd this match. Spooky.

Solid points L. He's going through a purple patch, but he's never been completely clinical. He's not a true finisher if we are honest, but he's the perfect CF for us in the system that we play.

12 goals in 10 games sounds like a clinical finisher to me. Haha. Nah, I know what you're saying. He isn't the Bent type. As Leauxgan pointed out, he contributes a lot more than goals, and when he does score it only increases his value. His strike yesterday was very instinctive. What a great split second decision.

I rewatched the last 20 mins of the match a couple of times last night. Its so beautiful to see...

A purple patch. I'd rather him get back to finishing and setting up others, the latter he hasn't done very much lately.
