Nope. I would have not viewed any different from what it is. We have a young keeper who will make mistakes from time to time but he also has all the tools to become the best keeper in the world so I will take the good with the bad. He was coming off of an injury and has another knock so if dropping a ball that lead to us giving up a goal at 4-0 is the worst that happens we should be fine. Keeper questions from a guy who's who own keep has been in questionable form is funny.

I'd be more than happy to talk about Cech's decline in the Chelsea thread. He obviously is on the decline. Just thought i could get reasonable discussion

You said you would be scared if you were an Arsenal fan. I pointed out that me and most other Arsenal fans like our young keep and are ok with him making the odd mistake because of his potential and because of our keeper situation prior.

I think this is key, although Chesney's mistake the other day was eerily similar to a certain Spainard. Anyone is an upgrade over Almunia. Szcznesy's a confident player, which makes him an upgrade over Fabianski and Almunia, who were rather sensitive players.

He's had enough frickups for it to become a talking point, but much of that comes down to his youth. There aren't many keepers his age starting for champions league competitors of top 4 sides in a major european league. that accomplishment speaks to his potential and how far he's come at such a fledgling age for GKs, but one the same coin his age opens a window for unsightly decision making and unpolished technique ... to repeat what everyone else has pretty much said

He's supposed to be really good. Like everyone raves about him. In fact it's really surprising that Shea went to Montpelier instead of him . Martinez has already been called to the Argentinian squad, though he didn't get a cap. I'd really like to see what we have in him. Hopefully he can go out on loan somewhere and play.

The only thing that sucks about that is it pretty much means we have to grin and bear it.. because he's not getting older any faster than the rest of us.

Lets not forget all the great things Szczesny has done also. The double save against Kuyt's pk. The pk save against Di Natale that at the time kept us in Champion's league. People forget without Szczesny last year's 8-2 against United could have easily been 12-2 or worse.

I read on an Arsenal forum that Martinez would be the no. 2 but is on a red card. Dunno how true but it would make sense seeing how he passed Shea already and is chasing down Mannone and Fiabianski in terms of pecking order.

i may be wrong but im pretty sure he graduated from high school in dallas so he probably could but i think he'd probably prefer to play for argentina. he'll have to force his way in to the squad though sometimes they will call up more of their domestic based players for friendlies and that could be his chance.

Martinez is not eligible to play in the Champions League. Not sure the exact provision but this link says so. That's why Shea made the team (and Shea is god awful so I pray Mannone survives the match).

I have been tough on Chesney in prior pages, Bho. I am a bit concerned though he still is a top talent. He needs to work on his consistency. That and his distribution really haven't improved over the past year which is somewhat disconcerting but overall I think he will succeed even if I'm slightly less optimistic than I was last September. Martinez will quickly be giving him competition. From what I've read he's better than Chesney was at the same age.

Also, this is a sweet pic/wallpaper from Arsenal dot com. LINK

Interested to see who plays versus Montpellier. Would guess there will be some rotation. Surely Kos, Giroud, and Theo start.
