Tough break for NYC. Better team for the first 60 minutes. Give up a goal on the last kick of the game.

Franchise model biting MLS in the arse
other leagues around the world getting back to business while MLS deals with a CBA

any chance in your opinion how this affects them going forward?
i would think missing a whole year would be detrimental to a league that probably isnt very profitable to begin with.

I don’t think we’ll have a lockout. Yesterday (and this morning) was just an attempt by both sides to set a strong tone for future negotiations, as usually happens with CBAs. The players threaten to strike, while the owners threaten to lock down. It’s all optics, like political grandstanding. We heard very similar things over the winter during the CBA negotiations, and they got done with relatively little trouble.
The owners have supposedly revised their plans and are in contact with the MLSPA right now. I’ll be surprised if a deal isn’t done by the deadline tomorrow. The players and owners both know that MLS missing an entire season would be a huge disaster to the league, and won’t help anyone. It won’t happen.
The MLB seems way more likely to actually miss the season, IMO.

Update: Herc Gomez is saying both parties have agreed to push back the deadline to reach the CBA agreement from 12 EST tomorrow to 12 EST in Wednesday.
I interpret that as a good sign they’re making progress to reaching a deal that satisfies both parties. They wouldn’t extend the deadline by 24 hours like this if the negotiations were in a true stalemate. Hopefully they can iron out the final details over the next 36 hours.
