I’ll take a whack at it even though I’m not currently in the know about the US team. Plus I’ll bump this in a year and see how far off I might be

GK - Hamid

DEF - Yedlin / CCV / Brooks / Acosta

MID - Nagbe / Pulisic / Bradley / Weah

ATT - Wood / Jozy

I can't tell if you're trying to guess our best XI or not.

It's impossible to know a formation, even, without knowing who the coach is.

GK - Steffen

DEF - Yedlin / Miazga / Brooks / Robinson

MID - Pulisic / McKennie / Bradley / Amon

ATT - Wood / Jozy

I still think our best lineup is a 3-5-2.

Steffen

Parker-Brooks-Miazga

Yedlin-Bradley-Adams-Robinson

Pulisic

Wood-Altidore

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Beasley hasn't died yet.

True, but I think I'd rather see Olosunde ahead of him at this point... Some frick still is 3rd string LB though.

Personally, I think a 4-4-2 would be a disaster.

I'm just going 4-4-2 because it's basic and we have no manager at the moment.

It forces us to use 2 players from our shallowest position when we need an extra mid.

Yeah, but I also think Jozy and Wood play well off of each other.

ETA: And that extra midfielder doesn't really matter if it's not a number 10 that can bridge from the holding mids to the striker. Pulisic can be that I guess, but the more I watch him, the more I realize how much better he is at taking on defenders on the wing and cutting in.

We used a 3-man midfield against France, and yeah it's France so they were obviously more talented, but I felt so bad for Bobby Wood who was basically having to come passed midfield to get the ball because we had three 6's in the midfield.

Don't think that really matters when the team needs 3 center mids. Would be much better off with Jozy up top, Pulisic behind him as the 10, 2 CM/DCMs behind him.

I like a 4-2-3-1:

Yedlin - Miazga - Brooks - Robinson

McKennie Bradley

Weah Pulisic Nagbe

Jozy

I think Weah is good enough that he should be given a shot in a major tourney to play with the established "big boy" team. He is retarded good in his runs, has wonderful touch, and is creative as all hell.

He also seems to have the capability to have that moment of brilliance nobody outside of Pulisic seems to have.

I don't. I think there's a few guys ahead of him right now.

In terms of winger, I'd take Pulisic, Nagbe, Saief, Lletget, Arriola over him. Weah needs to actually play regularly at the professional level before he is legitimately considered. Getting him some run in meaningless friendlies is fine, a little bit different for tournament play.
