Why would you want him passing it forward when you think he'll just turn it over? He knows what he can and can't do and he was playing it safe in the final. It very well could have been good enough.

So clearly he isn't good enough if his skill set won't even allow him to play the ball forward. Like I said no where near good enough to be a Liverpool captain.

And like everyone else has said, we do need an upgrade. But if/when he is on the field, then I have no problem with him having the armband.

he's a squad player in terms of quality, and if an upgrade happens he gets pushed out of a starting role that's not good for a captain.

If your captain is healthy he should be in the 11 almost every match not a squad player.

Adama Traore, one of Middlesbrough's brightest stars of their play-off campaign, could be on his way up the M1 to Newcastle, according to the Yorkshire Post.

The newspaper reports the Magpies would be willing to meet Boro's £15m valuation of their flying winger, following their failure to win promotion back to the Premier League

Angel Di Maria wants to sign for Atletico Madrid this summer with Diego Simeone keen to add a creative attacking midfielder, according to AS.

Di Maria has long been linked with Los Rojiblancos and has even called Simeone several times to tell him that he wants to play under him

The snake is back at it

I don't even see how this is a remotely good fit. Di Maria is lazy as frick.

I know you hate him and Pool, but he isn't that bad. His game has regressed a lot in the deeper position in terms of making incisive passes, but he's not that bad of a player. He has great workrate, he contributes on the defensive end (2 tackles per game is a good return on a player who isn't naturally defensive, and his 1 interception per game is more indicative of Pool's emphasis on team pressing rather than cutting passing lanes in the low block). He's a good enough CM in my view. The stats bear that out in my view.

He runs a lot and makes the odd tackle

Plenty of people you can find to do that

Why spend money on someone else if you already have a player who can do that in your team already?

Well he doesn't add anything else of value

There are players who can do that and can be positive with the ball and not turn it over.

Hes a squad player in terms of quality

He might be a squad player, and they certainly got a great midfielder in Fabinho, but I don't think Henderson is that bad. He's noticeably regressed in terms of incisiveness, which is the main issue. His stats are in line with other DMs, but there isn't anything that makes him standout. There are DMs or deep=lying players that are better than him, but they get snapped up quickly.

My whole point is he shouldn't be a starter esp in this revamped midfield we are about to see. He's not the quality of player that you expect at Liverpool.

Dirk Kuyt work rate, Richie Williams passing ability. Ok, maybe a little harsh

It’s a case of:

1. Henderson playing at Sunderland.
2. Sunderland was a mid to bottom table team.
3. Henderson playing well for a team at that level.
4. English media start with their bullshite how player X is the new ___________.
5. English premium.
6. Henderson linked with top clubs in the country.
7. Henderson moves to Liverpool.
8. English media overhyped Henderson.
9. Henderson shows he’s nothing more than a squad player for Liverpool.
10. Pick the next young “great” player in the country and rinse and repeat.

Unless that young player is Raz. In which case, English media alternate between writing articles about how he spends too much money on food and writing articles about how he spends too little money on food.
