That strategy works too, though, and by works, I mean that it forces you to pay Porto 7.5 million Euros to pass on their option to buy Casemiro

That's like me or you splurging on $3 for coat check at a bar.

What's the thinking on Real's moves this summer?

At Napoli, Rafa was extremely successful in bringing in attacking players that really clicked together (Mertens, Callelon, Gabbiadini, Higuian in addition to inheriting Insigne and Hamsik).

However, he "missed" on all the big moves in defensive midfield (Jorginho, Lopez) which is why they kind of took a step back.

Haven't really kept up with it. There's so much Marca, official club press release (denying inappropriate negotiations with Veratti), etc. white noise that it's hard to get a great read on it

I really hope he stays, they don't need to sell him at all.

I just want him to stay out of the Premier League. Won't be able to handle him play United at least twice every year.

The final promotion playoff match today against Cesena was fantastic drama right down to Cesena hitting the underside of the crossbar right just before the final whistle. .

Best for Serie A that Bologna made it up since thye have real "modernization" project underway and two "miracle" teams in Frosinone and Carpi are already promoted.

Bologna's ownership group is American and led by Tacopina who was involved in the AS Roma purchase and in the same Boston/Red Sox/Liverpool etc circles. .

They'll certainly spend some money to stay up and create excitement.

I expect the majority of initial resources will continue to go into infrastructure and marketing.

One by one, Serie A sides based in famous, marketable locations are being purchased and "modernized".

Steve McClaren is set to be confirmed as Newcastle's new head coach later on Wednesday, according to Sky sources.

It is understood the 54-year-old former England and Derby County boss has concluded talks following a short holiday and just needs to formalise his contract with an announcement expected later in the day.

The appointment of a new manager at Newcastle moved a step nearer completion with the official confirmation on Wednesday morning that head coach John Carver and coach Steve Stone have left the club.
