sky and daily mail say is a done deal

esp since Kroos will not get a new contract with him wanting more

and as for shaw, anytime you buy a player that is 22, 23 or below, you're expecting to get 5-10 years out of him. not sure why everyone is now using this to justify the outrageous figure for Shaw. it's outrageous, but they have the money so oh well. gotta disagree glass, i love gibbs and he's great when healthy, but he's too injury prone. and baines is too old. they're overpaying, but shaw is a safer buy than those two.

thats what I was saying 27 million for 10 years plus is a good investment.

Bayern has an offer on the table for Kroos. He can choose to accept it if he wants. They aren't going to break their bank for him.

i don't know who is saying that. german based journalists have consistently said for months that bayern and kroos' agent have been negotiating but he wants more than they're offering currently.

pedro to pool would be interesting, but doesn't he have Sterling? confused why that says he thinks Pedro is the perfect counterpart to those two when they had a pretty dang good 3rd wheel this season would be so very much in the mold of this year's Liverpool to buy two offensive players before shoring up the defense.

would love it... pedro would be an incredible buy... provide very good depth on the front line and would allow him and sterling to play on the wing with Suarez and Studge through the middle, if one is hurt (Suarez - maybe.. Studge - inevitably).

BR is attack minded... its in his blood. Honestly, I don't care in what order the come in as long as some defensive reinforcements do, and I believe they will..

It's not like he's being bought purely on potential like 80% of players under 20. Young players worth half a shite are going to go for a value reflecting their longevity. It's crazy money, but it's safe-ish money, and at only 4.05 Bebes, it's probably not the worst money United has ever spent.

you link doesn't even fricking work

Stop mixing pounds and dollars in your post.

There is no 250 million plus war chest. Thats enough for fricking 12-15 new players.

my point is merely to say don't try to add additional justification to your overpaying by saying he'll be around awhile at a good level, hopefully. that's factored into every transfer valuation by every team.

there's not a huge difference in paying 15 mil for an older LB and then 15 mil again in 5 years for another than 30 mil up front for a guy that can last 10 years imo

well yeah, if you can predict the future and he isn't a bust or gets injured...

I think he's a fine player and would love to have him, but in terms of FFP, its hard to justify that kinda cash on a non goal producing player... IMO

But you guys have more money to spend than us and I'm sure you have done your due diligence on the financial side of it..

again, all transfers operate this way. value comes from all these info points. a big fallacy in that logic is there is no sure thing, though shaw surely seems like he will be good for awhile. you just never know though.

ManU fans trying to act like they aren't overpaying for Shaw (in an attempt to distance themselves from Chelsea or Man City? idk) are kidding themselves. 30m pounds would be the highest fee ever for a LB. he's young and english and ManU have stupid money, so it is understandable. still, soton is getting a great deal (which, good for them. looks like they'll need the money to rebuild after losing shaw, lallana, and probz schneiderlin this summer, as well as their manager possibly).

so you buy an attacking LB who isn't a particularly good defender at this point in his career

It's worth mentioning if there are different degrees of hopefully. Saying that Luke Shaw could play as a left-back for Manchester United for 10-15 years is a good bit different than saying :insert other left-back prospect here: could play as a left-back for Manchester United for 10-15 years, and that's completely ignoring potential.

Sure there's uncertainty, sure it's a lot of money, but there is so much fricking money in the Premier League these days I'm not even sure what overpaying is anymore.

ETA: I've also been watching too much Real Madrid over the past few years, so my idea of an appropriate transfer fee could just be fricked at this point.
