Damn, that's a lot of money, especially with no CL money coming in. And what the hell is going on with that line-up? Van Persie, Rooney, Mata, and Falcao are all going to play together?
That monster Adidas deal and the monster Chevy deal helps out more than any UCL payout.
Van Persie reportedly will be out a few months with a knee surgery. So this will help cover that absence and provide depth at striker if he comes back.
With Di Maria, it looks like an attacking 4-3-3 with ADM and Rooney in the wings, Falcao in the middle, and Mata playing CAM in front of two holding mids.
It's stupid money, and United are spending it all, hoping to get back in the title hunt.

Someone is going to be very pissed in 3 months when van Persie is back.
It looks like a thrown together version of Real Madrid's offense, with an even more suspect defense.
I don't know what these teams are doing sticking 4 or 5 purely offensive players and leaving themselves totally open to counterattacks.

BREAKING: @TheTorontoSun can confirm that Jermain Defoe will remain at TFC after rejecting multiple bids.

Pretty much. I think defense will be the main focus in the next few windows.

Whether the deal turns out well probably hinges on the CL spot. If ManU finish out that and Falcao then moves to a club in the CL it's pretty crazy expenditure considering what other defensive players could be had with that expenditure. However, if he stays healthy, they get a CL spot and he signs a long term deal, it won't look so bad at all.

If Falcao works out I wouldn't be surprised to see RVP on his way out down the line. Even though he's Dutch, Van Gaal is bound to get frustrated if the lack of form continues after the surgery.

As I mentioned in the United thread, I'm thinking RvP won't ever be back to his old self, especially after this surgery. So take the chance on Falcao.

Who are the ideal starting defenders and defensive midfielders then?
CB 1: Phil Jones
CB2: Chris Smalling/ Rojo
LB: Luke Shaw
RB: Rafael?
DM1: Fletcher
DM2: Blind
Bench: Fellaini, Valencia, Herrera (36 million Euros for the bench?), Cleverly, and Carrick
Plus Young, Januzaj, and others backing up the big names up front
So much depth in central midfield. Such little quality depth in defense.
