Javi played the libero in a back 3 yesterday... It's like he was born to play that position.

He was very, very impressive.

It seemed like he won every single challenge, aerial or 50/50. How many Spanish players can do that besides maybe Ramos?

I hope he gets a chance to play a lot this summer.

Hoping Vila take advantage of the City clear out of English players, Lescott/Milner/Rodwell, if we could pick up one of them I'd be very happy. I think we would stand the best chance with Lescott or Milner due to their history with the club...but hopefully Rodwell realises he needs to go to a midtable team and actually play.

yeah, you could play a 4-3-3 with him in MF and switch to a 3-4-3 without even changing personnel... Not too many players in the world would allow you that flexibility without being a liability in one of the two positions

Yea Villa is the first club who came to mind. Liverpool shouldn't overlook these guys either. But these mid table clubs should be all over these guys.

Man U?

Seriously, I'd take Milner because of his versatility.. The other two would not improve our club.. I would be tempted to take Micah Richards, but his injury track record is scary..

well, good thing it's this year and we're talking the current transfer window!

Rodwell is a bit intriguing, but he also has a bad run of being hurt... he really needs to go somewhere he'll play every day to get his career back on track..

The intriguing thing will be wages, they will more than likely be asked to take cuts (altho Barry and Lescott have the advantage of not costing a transfer fee which can make people more willing to pay bigger wages.

Barry to Everton is the obvious one.

correct me if I'm wrong, but they can't sell all their English players this summer (unless they bring more in). surely they couldn't comply with the home grown rule (which I think still exists) if they sold all the guys mentioned.

If he can stay healthy he def is an everyday player. All those guys say the money signs from City and wanted to go there and their clubs were eager to sell them.

not at all... couldn't be more pleased with our position heading in to this summer's window..

I just wish it wasn't a WC year (in regards to transfers)

His recycles, resets and reorientations were very important as well. Your midfield did get nervous, antsy and sloppy at times.

With Arsene Wenger ready to sign a new contract, the Arsenal manager will reportedly be handed a big transfer kitty in the summer. According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are interested in Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and Queens Park Rangers forward Loic Remy, while Bayer Leverkusen's Lars Bender and Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin are midfield options. Wenger also wants replacements for goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and right-back Bacary Sagna.

L'Equipe insist that Eden Hazard remains Paris Saint Germain's top target for this summer, and they could also add his Chelsea team-mate David Luiz in a double swoop. They also want Barcelona's Dani Alves - but to finance these moves and with FFP in mind they will seemingly be willing to a number of their current squad including Christophe Jallett, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Javier Pastore and Marco Verratti.

The rule actually restricts the number of foreign players, so you could go into the season with 0 homegrown players but only register 17 foreign players over 21.

yeah that's what I was thinking. they can't sell all of those, because they'd only be left with Hart and Nastasic, I think, that would fit the "home grown" requirements.

They will be short b/c it looks like those 5 English players are leaving. No one so far on City's radar is english. They might just be forced to call youth players up. A) Who are English or B) Who have been in the academy for 3 or more years.

Or they just dont register 25, anyone under 21 doesnt have to be registered, English or foreign.
