i think the issue was always going to be Liverpool.

It really comes down to Suarez. Rumor has it that he won't turn in a transfer request if push comes to shove. Too much risk in alienating himself from the LFC fan base (which let's be honest, have treated him like a son) in case an offer doesn't come in. It would be different if he had a bunch of clubs pursuing him, but he realistically only has one destination this summer. Because of that, LFC don't have to sell. BR knows Suarez will show up to training and will play his arse off for the team once the season starts. It's just in his DNA.

I want to see Suarez stay at Liverpool, and I don't want Arsenal to offer more than 30 mil for Higuain. Even that seems a bit steep, IMO.

If Pep really loved Tito, he´d pop the collar on that closed up polo. Moda, man.

I was kind of disappointed in Pep. He wore the same outfit two days in a row for the Telekom Cup

It´s pretemporada, his wardrobe people are hard at work preparing the season.

Here's the L'Equipe link

Wenger rubbished it after our preseason match this morning though I guess. don't know what to read into that

He was the one that I posted about last week, but then supposedly it was dismissed. So now it's back on, and dismissed again?

The article says that he would be paid 3 mil a year, 5 year contract.

the L'Equipe report is pretty concrete. they aren't one to post rumors, generally. could be wrong, but I also don't particularly trust AW to be honest about transfer targets.

L'Equipe report

I dunno, they have been linking us with some odd players this summer... Ben Arfa being the latest. Most of the journos following thet team out east have denied our interest

Maybe I'm just hoping we will land Bernard, who knows...

I also think Suárez goes to RM

So, if BR & LFC sticks to their guns, do you think RM will shell out north of £50mm? I got to believe that article last week that says RM value him at £25mm is garbage...

If not, and assuming Higuain is sold to Napoli or Arsenal, what other players + cash would you guys be prepared to part with?

Coentrao for sure... we supposedly put in a £6mm bid for Morata... Jese??

pretty big difference between linking and saying a deal is done, salary is x, and date is y.

maybe I'm just hopeful because they were the first to report Sanogo IIRC

Sounds like Napoli are going to get Higuain.

quote:

While Arsenal have stalled on an improved bid for Real Madrid forward Golzalo Higuain, one club has come in and had a bid already accepted for the big striker.

Napoli, now managed by Rafa Benitez, has made use of some of the funds made available after the sale of Edinson Cavani, having a bid of €35 million ($46 million) for Higuain accepted by Real Madrid, according to reports in Italy. Arsenal’s most recent bid of a reported €27 million was rejected by Madrid, who would rather not sell Higuain, though the player wants to leave.

Reports in England state that Higuain has asked for a 48-hour waiting period to give Arsenal time to come back with an improved offer, as it seems that the Argentine international would rather play in the Premier League. Higuain has yet to agree personal terms with Napoli.

oooooh... I got this from Ives' site today.

Anyway, it's clear he would rather go to Arsenal, but I don't think we will shell out more than Napoli.
