This is a penalty?

Wish Phil Dowd had officiated USA-Slovenia.

He is a large part behind our overall defensive frailty. With him in and Djourou out we didn't win anything in the air. The pairing of he and Kos just does not work. He may not have individually done anything to give up a goal, but he contributes heavily to our lack of overall team defense and puts others in tougher situations.

Oh I know, I completely agree. I was just pointing out that for once he actually didn't directly give up a goal.

I think my biggest complaint is Nolan not being sent off. If Dowd wants to give soft penalties and FKs, more power to him, but his inconsistency with Nolan and Diaby has no excuse. Nolan did the exact same thing that Diaby did. Grabbed Szczesny by the neck and threw him down. Had to be red. It was also insane that he had escaped a yellow earlier for coming in and shoving Diaby.

And last, but not least, Barton managed to get out of this match without a booking. Incredible.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: "It was a good game with a lot of incidents and turning points, [but] the sending off was detrimental to us and some of the decisions went against us today. We were under pressure and we had problems to finish in the second half. It's unpredictable sometimes, and it became difficult. At 4-1 we panicked a bit. But we were a little bit unlucky too. You have to take it on the chin and look at the positives. I didn't see the sending off very well. But Barton should have been sent off too. We dropped two points, for sure."

Yeah I wished he had been a bit harsher on the team. Saw this on twitter and figued I'd share:

"Newcastle's new striker provided 4 assists today. Phil Dowd is certainly £35m well spent. #Arsenal"

ESPN:

Jarvis now over on the right wing and he accelerates away from Vidic with Wolves now mounting some sustained pressure - until Berbatov (I kid you not) tracks back to intercept.

Oh shite...Wilshere is going to hear it from the FA. He tweeted this.

quote:

Inconsistent refereeing needs to stop. It's killing the game. If Diaby is sent off, what's the difference between that and Kevin Nolan's challenge on our keeper!?? #joke

edit: It's also been deleted already. Bet Arsenal's PR crew got on that quick.
