He's got that Spanish technical skill, that and Giroud striking the ball hasn't been great this season. But why the heck didn't Santi hit it? He's had some amazing shots this season.

That would have been the third straight away game where we gave up a goal in injury time.

Nah I'd say arteta before cazorla, but that was the perfect opportunity for giroud to be the hero, I mean he's obviously on form today and arteta wasnt

This season is going to test my fricking allegiance to AFC more than any other.

How often does that even come into play? From the training grounds you have your list/hierarchy of players preferred to take the kick.

We really need Gibbs back. Our defending has been shaky since he left, plus he's a big part of the offense. Szczesny even though he has his gaffs, he is more consistent than Mannone. One of our wingers has got to step up and start producing. It's good to see Giroud finally getting his feet under himself. Arsenal have the players to get good results, they just haven't played close to well enough lately. They are a very frustrating side to watch.

It wasn't like it was an awful penalty really.
I'm starting to think Everton could finish top 4. Not a fluke at this point, they're just one of the best teams. Completely overran Fulham at home last week, we were really lucky to get a point.
Right now they just look better than Arsenal or Spurs.

I had no problem with Arteta taking the penalty, because he's the designated taker. Schwarzer just made a really read and save.

I never said it was a poor kick. I've seen plenty of that caliber go in. Just a good guess from the keeper.
If Arsenal actually go out and buy 1 key offensive player, like a goalscorer from the Wing or Striker(both would be better) I think they pass up Everton without too much difficulty. I really want them to shell out top dollar for a world class finisher. I think the defensive woes will sort themselves out not completely but we will see much less of them once Gibbs returns.

Everton won't. Their squad is too shallow. Unfortunate too because they have a good side.

I agree Arteta would normally be my first choice, but his confidence was clearly shaken by giving up that penalty, and he had too much pressure to try to make up for it.
Whereas Giroud while normally just average at PK's was clearly on form and full of confidence today.
Also it wasn't a bad take, but it certainly wasn't a good one either, at least 5-6 feet away from the post.

Everton's problem is their depth, maybe they can bring in a player or two in January if they're still doing well. I still think they have a realistic shot though, they always seem to finish the season well.
I'm just not blown away by their competition for fourth. I think you could make a case that Spurs have depth issues as well. They have two strikers really. They love playing with two out and out wingers but their third true winger is Andros Townsend.
That's why Dempsey was such a good buy for them, even though he hasn't exactly been playing great. He could play out wide, or up top if need be. Deeper than Everton but they are shallow in certain places.
If Giroud continues to get better I guess Arsenal would be the favorite. They need to rest Cazorla from time to time though.

Yeah Cazorla looks tired already; not quite as lively and a nuisance for opposing defenses. That's a fairly sizable concern, considering recent purchases like Gervinho and Chamakh both had strong starts and faded. Cazorla is twice the player of either of those two.
ETA: It's not like Arsenal has much depth either. As a whole, the Premier League is down. The only quality teams are the Manchester sides, and Chelsea.

I think Tottenham and Arsenal are still both more realistic than Everton. We're only 1/4 of the way through the season, Everton's results will begin to slip a little bit. We already saw what happened when they lost Fellaini for just 2 or 3 weeks.

The guy from ZonalMarking has talked a lot about how the lack of a Winter break has affected Spanish players in their first year in England. It's hard to quantify how important that is, but Silva did seem to fade a bit last year.
Everton need to avoid an injury to Baines - that would completely change how they play. And they need to keep Jelavic and Fellaini healthy. Other than that I think they could absorb some injuries. Mirallas was a very good signing.

Benteke just made him look like a little bitch. Beautiful first time shot by Weimann gave the keeper no chance. Let's hope we can withstand the pressure second half, this is not Mcleishs team we aren't gonna just sit back and try to wait it out.
