Meh, you and I both know Spain wouldn't do what they were doing years ago, there's no Senna, and Arbeloa is a clear weak flank.
Plus, Spain hasn't Villa, and Llorente hasn't and it looks like he won't, play (relatively important, as Germany's CB's aren't midgets).
Spain-Germany, even this Spain, would be an epic battle, precisely because those that are there, are battle tested.
Nevertheless, this is not an optimum Spain in the back, not because of the lack of Pujol, but rather, that of Iraola (Piqué thank God, has come along well in this tourney, Ramos is gonna Ramos- brilliance and brain farts in a wavering proportion).
Juanfran, like Llorente, has not played in the tourney, and on top of that, has never played at this level (only a friendly).

Gomez has already shown that he can dominate Ramos. Del Bosque would have to do something to try to quell that. Schweinsteiger would need to be healthy enough for Germany to be able to pressure Spain's midfield.

Is he in better form than Torres? Who isn't? But, in my opinion, he still has not 'arrived'.
He is elite, in capacity, mental fortitude (which has been his problem in recent years), and dedication (work ethic), but he's still got to prove it on this stage. Is he capable? Yes. Will he do so? Who knows? The odds? They are in his favour, but I hope his missing the last match (assuming Spain goes through) affects his confidence.

A lot of people agree with you. He just isn't a sexy player so it's hard for people to get behind him. When he's on form, he's deadly. He makes such smart runs and is always in a prime position to poach a goal, that's really all you can ask for if he's finishing his chances.
If he's wasting his chances then he's just a waste of space on the field and shouldn't be out there. Against Portugal he got a chance and he took it.
He dominated Ramos when Bayern played Real Madrid though. I'd expect he can do the same if they squared off again.

Seriously, this was what solidified his reputation in the world's eyes. He was all potential until then (you and I both know, Bundesliga doesn't count in many an eye).
I insist, the Portugal goal was really lucky, but seriously, good for him!
As for the potential Spain-Germany final, I would expect him to play extremely well, and be pivotal, whether or not he scored. His runs are lethal, he is one of, if not the best, right now.
ETA This is not a slight on the Bundesliga, simply, the powers that be expect one to come out of the league as champions. This will change, and is changing already.

Yeah. Bundesliga doesn't get much praise on the world stage but it is gaining a lot of traction, as it should. The vast majority of the German squad plays in Germany.
He has to come up big in the semis and possibly the final or he will continue to be on the cusp of greatness but not quite the there. I agree with that.
