Is it safe to say that, after the Ireland game, we'll see the 4-5-1?

So what are the scenarios for either team to advance? And who has to win for Italy to get in?

So who would advance in a 0-0 or a 1-1 draw, assuming that Italy takes care of Ireland like they should?

1. Italy loses or draws = Spain and Croatia advance.

2. Italy wins + Spain v Croatia finishes with a winner = Spain/Croatia winner first place and the loser is out with Italy going through as 2nd place.

3. Spain and Croatia draw 0-0 and Italy wins = Spain and Italy advance.

4. Spain and Croatia draw 1-1 and Italy wins by 2+ goals
= Spain and Italy advance.

5. Spain and Croatia draw 1-1 and Italy wins by only 1 goal
= Spain and Croatia advance.

6. (and here's the wild card) Spain and Croatia draw 2-2 or more and Italy is eliminated on goals in matches by between the top 3 all tied at 5 points.

Which is to say, Spain better fricking win and not cook up some biscotti with the Croats.

Piqué ought to be worrisome to you, especially since his second family name is Bernabéu.

Really for Italy the possible 1-1 result between Spain and Croatia is even more worrisome since it seems like only a couple of times in my life have I seen Italy score 3 goals against a team that packs the box.

Even in qualifying against the absolute minnows, Italy hardly ever get score lines like 4-0 which every other top team seems to find so easy.

Historically when 2 teams can share a result that guarentees they both go through, it happens

But i think Spain trash them

Yeah, they really should. On paper, the matchup could hardly be better for Spain.

As an Italian fan, I hope the fact that Spain will likely be knocked out with a loss keeps them from dicking around and they build up a 2+ goal lead that can't be blown on an infamous corner for Croatia at 90+5'
