Don't know if the sous vide is still all the rage, but on the Anova website you can get $50 off if you use coupon code LUVMOM50. Or at least that's what the facebook message said

What kind of smoker to buy?

Posted by SRYB86 on 4/19/17 at 2:35 pm
I'm toying with the idea of getting a smoker. I've never had one before so I'm not looking to break the bank, but at the same time don't want to buy a piece of junk. I've talked to a friends that have had electric that like theirs and other friends that swear by charcoal. Also, the Pit Barrel Cookers seem pretty cool. So what can you folks suggest for me? Any and all input is appreciated.

35 whelen

Posted by SRYB86 on 1/25/17 at 12:19 pm
I'm interested in purchasing a 35 Whelen for whitetail hunting, as well as any other large game I ever have the urge to hunt. I'd like to do an elk hunt in the semi-near future so please give me some suggestions on what to buy, as well as scope recommendations. I've seen the Handi-rifle and CVA Scouts that aren't that expensive, but don't know what the OB thinks about them. I would like to stay under $1,200 for gun and glass. Thanks!

Ville Platte and Opelousas Meatshops

Posted by SRYB86 on 11/17/16 at 1:41 pm
I'll be rolling through there tomorrow and want to know a good spot to pick up boudin and whatever else looks enticing. Normally go to Best Stop, but won't be going by there and want to try something new anyway. What say you? Thanks.

Posted by SRYB86 on 8/2/16 at 12:03 pm
An older guy from my dad's deer camp is looking sell his 1992 fourtrax 300 for $1,500. I know the 4wheeler has been taken care of, hasn't been put through hell and is a Honda, but it's nearly 25 years old. Is this a deal or no? Thanks for the input.

Lake Conroe

Posted by SRYB86 on 6/27/16 at 10:54 am
Anyone know much about fishing Lake Conroe and if there are any places on the lake to rent a boat for the day? I've come across a few places that will rent pontoon boats, but wanted to get some OB pointers first. Thanks.

Price of Lime

Posted by SRYB86 on 4/21/16 at 12:49 pm
I've got my soil samples back and it looks like I will be needing about 5-6 tons of lime for food plots. Does anyone have an idea of about how much it costs per ton? Which type to go with? Any other suggestions.

Magnalite vs enameled cast iron

Posted by SRYB86 on 4/1/16 at 11:00 am
I've got several pieces of regular cast iron, but want to get some larger pieces or either magnalite or enameled. What are the pros and cons of each? I've read that the magnalite now isn't what it was years ago, but nothing really is

Water Lily Removal and Control

Posted by SRYB86 on 6/29/15 at 10:27 am
One of the ponds on my family's property is beginning to fill up with lily pads. What's the best way to get rid of these and to prevent it from getting out of control again? We primarily just use the pond for a little fishing, so we don't want to do anything to harm the fish.
Thanks in advance for your help.
