Socialism lives in the margins of successful capitalism. Look at NYC, San Francisco, etc.

Every hipster coffee shop serving $6 cups of coffee is primarily catering to successful capitalists, even if they don’t want to admit it.

I don’t know what it is about living in a successful area that leads people to pursue leftists ideals.

And she ran against someone that made Roy Moore look lke an intellectual.

TX was at one time a democrat stronghold. LBJ being an obvious example. But that was before the party became the party of sky screamers.

The transition from purple to read tell you how far the democrat party has moved.

Not to mention a HUGE population of illegal immigrants........

Just being a troll....as bad as as I dislike Texas it is VERY dynamic......if it weren’t for Texans propensity to brag incessantly about things other states take for granted Texas would be among the best places in the country to live and work. Texas is even able today to withstand the ebbs and flows of the oil industry.....it really is an example of how sensible regulation and taxation can improve the lives of citizens and should be emulated elsewhere. Now if there was just some edible BBQ somewhere between Louisiana and New Mexico LOL

You think these Fortune 500 companies are moving to Texas because of illegal labor???

It's all about regulation and taxation

I don’t think I’ve met more than one person from Louisiana. Where do they move to in Texas? Houston and Dallas?

I spend a bunch of time in Texas......a person would be mistaken to suggest that immigration, both legal and illegal, isn’t a major player in Texas economics. Is now and always has and will be. Who are those Fortune 500 companies employing? Many of the industries that drive the economy in Texas is very labor intensive.......oil don’t produce itself,,,,,and immigrants are a MAJOR factor in the labor force that produces oil and gas.....and it ain’t all legal.....trust me.....bunches of water, sand and oil trucks rambling around this part of the world piloted by folks who ain’t here legally. They’ve got the credentials....but if you dig deep enough you’ll find they ain’t legal....just come to the Permian and watch the frac trucks on the side of the road with no drivers when Texas or New Mexico put up a surprise inspection station.......

Does California not have a lot of immigrant labor as well? Why are their Fortune 500 companies leaving for Texas? Can’t be for more cheap labor right...

Holy hyperbole do you have any evidence to back this up? I’ve been in the oil and gas business for 6 yrs, half of which working in the fields here in Texas and that is unequivocally a lie.

You have no idea what the frick you are talking about. Literally everything you spewed is table talk from a second cousins brothers friend.

does not matter where you were born. If your parents move to Guam when you are two and you stay you can't vote in Texas.

Must be citizen and resident of state. Typically 1 year suffices.

San Antonio is probably more conservative than Houston and Dallas. Way more conservative than Austin, obviously

Austin isn’t even dangerous in the slightest. San Antonio is definitely worse

Is there anything good about those people at all? Any redeeming value?

Seems to me every state they move to, was better off before they came.

I’m sure you are correct. There ain’t no illegals working in the oil patch. In a state where conservatives claim 8% of the labor force is undocumented, in an industry suffering from as severe a labor shortage as this country has seen since WW2, an industry on the border, an industry heavily reliant on skilled blue collar labor accustomed to difficult working and living conditions, an industry where many employees and employers alike are Hispanic, speak Spanish and have many friends and family across the border, a border of a nation where unemployment is pretty high.....there is no possibility that any illegals are working in the oil patch. Hell, you’ve convinced me....illegal immigrants aren’t taking any jobs anywhere.

You need a link to tell you the sky is blue? 8% of the workforce in Texas is undocumented, according to conservatives in Texas. Not a chance in hell any of those 1.25 million workers are producing anything other than trouble and a drain on the public coffers. I get it....illegal immigrants are not taking jobs away from Americans.

If you find illegals in the oilfield they are on roustabout crews doing physical labor, pipeline construction or working as yard men

No one is using illegals on drilling, on frack crews, driving trucks, or on Flowbacks

The QHSE demands are simply too great and the stakes are too high to risk using illegals on a job site

All of this.

As someone living in the Permian, and working with a wide swath of folks involved in oil (from CEOs to greenhat operators), there are way fewer illegals that what your intimating. There are plenty of legal immigrants, but in my experience they are more against illegal immigration than the most racist redneck you can find.

WTF is Texas doing?

The progressive virus has seeped into its inner workings. Here is an example of what the state is doing at present:

School lessons on the Alamo should cut 'heroic' description, Texas panel advises

quote:

The social studies curriculum for seventh graders in Texas learning about the Alamo could reportedly face some new changes, at least one of which has drawn the ire of the governor.

Removing the word “heroic” to describe those who protected the Alamo was among the items included in a report penned by an advisory panel to the State Board of Education on how to structure the curriculum, Dallas News reported on Friday.
