There were cellphones during the Reagan era?
No. It started with free landline phone service for people who couldn't afford it. When cell phones became the primary means of communication it was extended to them.
Not sure why it makes a difference. Landline of cellphone...

I like it in theory, but not in practice.
They typically test so crappily that those being tested can easily avoid testing positive. It ends up being a wasteful joke. Besides, ain’t nothing wrong with pot.

Cellphone vs. landline costs?
Posted on 12/4/17 at 10:41 pm to kingbob
Nothing wrong with pot....
EXCEPT when I am paying for a POS bum to sit at home and smoke it.. with no job and welfare and food stamps coming in every month.

Fair enough. I totally get that sentiment.

If only this stopped the consumption of Alcohol.
We get mad if someone smokes, but never bring up Alcohol.

Can't answer that with any accuracy. I pay $45 a month with Comcast for unlimited everything. My grandmother pays $35 for basic landline with no long distance.
The program is still being subsidized by taxpayers. It doesn't matter if it's through cell phones of landlines. Cell phone subsidization didn't begin with Obama though. It began with Dubya.

Which is a far bigger problem in Wisconsin than drugs are or ever will be.

quote:So in this case, you are for a bloated government solution to a bloated government problem? Because these programs have never proven to do anything except waste time and money. If there's a successful program like this, I'm open to looking at it.
But seriously, people are questioning the cost of a drug test versus the multiple hundreds of dollars given per month on food stamps?

GOOD!
Every state should implement that starting yesterday!

I think it's a bad idea and waste of money. Just encourages fraud.

He's not saying people are using EBT to buy alcohol, just that alcoholism is a problem and in Wisconsin it's a huge issue that rarely gets discussed because of the strength of the Tavern League.

Awwww shite Lobster prices are about to plummet.
Posted on 12/4/17 at 11:57 pm to 31TIGERS
I believe Mississippi has been doing this for about 5 years.
One year we had 12 people test positive. Then they went thru counseling and were approved.

BS
He responded to the OP and you are just trying to drive a weed narrative.

Weed narrative?
Where the hell are you getting that from?
You're just making shite up to be a pain and that's fine. I'm from WI originally, my family still lives there. I go home about once a year and while drugs, mostly meth, are an issue that's noticeable because it's new, Alcoholism is a way bigger beast than the drugs and has been for a very very long time. We joke about it and chalk it up to some kind of cultural norm, which it sort of is, but its exacerbated by the Tavern League's influence at the state level.
I care because I have skin in the game, not because of Marijuana.
I'm not saying that they shouldn't test for drugs, I don't care. If they can prove that a large portion of recipients are abusing drugs and that this is somehow cost effective for the state then go ahead...but they should be testing their BAC while they're at it.
I'm most bothered because Meth is a problem but this isn't going to solve it, this is just to score points on some kind of National Conservative scoreboard of coolness. It doesn't help anything. That it's being posted here, and people's reactions to it, is proof of that.

Florida lost millions playing with urine. That bothers me more than welfare. I'm also relieved to know they can drink themselves into an oblivion and still be ok. Don't worry though, there are still plenty of people getting suboxone or methadone via medicaid that will continually be subsidized under this. Y'all found the silver bullet this time.
