The far left progressives of big cities are pushing to make gun control a national issue, while dems in more conservative areas clearly want to pump the brakes.
It’s not surprising that far left progs are too nearsighted to see that going after guns is a losing strategy at the national level, because they never seem to see outside of their bubble. Will the dems running for seats in the rust belt or flyover states be able to avoid this looming catastrophe?
Gun control isn’t the only issue threatening to fracture the dems right now, but I’m betting it’s the catalyst that divides the progs and centrist.

The far left is gonna destroy the Democrat party. I mean who the hell wants to live in a country controlled by far left politicians?

No. Even though there are plenty of democrats who love their guns, I don't think any of them really believe anything will be done so it won't be an issue that effects their voting.

I read the DU once a day to see the different sides, ideologies, and beliefs of the other side. There are plenty of Dems that do not want the 2nd A repealed.
They fight about it constantly. It WILL cause a major shake up in a party already divided by the number of victims they can handle. There are simply too many of them to stay united at this point.
That I think is the greatest divide. But guns won’t help.

It's a non-issue just like abortion. Nothing will ever get done about either

You try talking to an older true democrat who thinks his party is in shambles?

Republicans should push this issue big along with tax breaks for the midterms. Either GOP donors or the NRA should set up to register voters at gun shows and places like bass pro .

Dems have apparently forgotten the lesson of the Clinton Assault Weapon Ban, which cost the democrats heavily in the 1994 mid-term elections.
And I'm fine with that.
