I've always been a tough guy.

Anyway, shoot me an email. It's my screen name @gmail. We'll try to find a place and time that suits both our schedules. Do you have a peanut allergy? Never mind, we'll discuss that later.

I seriously doubt it. It would be political suicide. It would have to be a war that was overwhelmingly supported by the population.

Would you go?

Probably yes, especially if it was here at home.

Do you really believe that being in the military, or going to war is what makes a man? What is manly about being coerced into a war?

I was of draft age during Vietnam. I made it clear to my family and friends..."I am not enlisting. But if I'm drafted I will serve. I'm sure as hell not going to Canada; not going to prison; and not gonna shoot off my big toe."

I was not drafted.

Bro enlisted but not to avoid the draft. He wanted a career in the Air Force. Retired as Colonel.

A war large enough to require a draft would be fought with strategic weapons and would be over before you could institute a draft and get the military trained. So, no draft but mutually assured destruction would be the order of the day.

I wouldn't have to worry about going. They would have no use for me.

Highly doubt there would be, but I would go if drafted.

A lot of people on here will say they wouldn't but when the shite hit the fan, they would.

I'm sure they will try.

I would be pretty far down the list.

Too bad they don't make the decision.

Bunch a pussies on this thread. I joined right before desert storm kicked off. You call yourself Americans. Nothing but a bunch of cowards.

A draft is just a way to circumvent market price for military service. We already get below-market rates, because guys like nomad have a hard-on for the country.

I'll be clear - they paid me and paid me well for what I did.

What is 'the right thing'?

Is that being shot up or killed in service of someone else's purpose? Sounds like the respect a toy soldier gets.

Got it. So if I don't willingly throw my life away I'm somehow self-serving.

Good to see your military family and superiors have warped your mind.

I don't necessarily agree with the "blowback" theory, well I didn't at first. I am starting to though. Documentary Restrepo shows all the soldiers walking around in the village and a little toddler native girl sees this shite. You think these kids don't grow up and a whole generation has since US involvement there, and get pissed. We are an occupying force.Terrorist gets detained and the so called calm elders get pissed. You are stupid if you think we can maintain a military there. We are pissing them off. I don't like them dirty fricks either but you are stupid if you think our middle eastern policy is worth a shite.

We can't afford it. Those people will never change. It will always be a shite hole. Just leave it alone

Ya, and the US paid Lockheed well for $800 toilet seats. Same difference. The amount paid for your salary might qualify for one of those Golden Fleece awards.
