How exactly would this go down? Would the cartels that supply many of these drugs become legitimate business enterprises overnight? Would the drugs be manufactured in an FDA or DEA regulated facility? How would distribution work? These are

Decriminalizing pot would be bad. We need full legalization.

If you are interested, look into the Portuguese model. They had a plague of heroin and hiv back in the 90's, decriminalized all drugs in 2002, and drug use plummeted.

Cartels/gangs would go away. No more murders. Chicago murder rate would drop substantially, as would all other cities.

Companies already manufacture drugs. We'd just have them expand their production. Then, we'd have clinics (methadone/suboxin) that would expand their models as well. Subsidies would be given now that we are not jailing addicts, treatment and mental health services could be expanded and we as a nation would be more prosperous, healthy, and safe.

Ppl that are addicted to opioids can't afford the deductibles and out of pocket expenses associated with their health insurance. So addiction treatment maybe "covered" but ppl still can't afford to access it so in reality it is "not covered."
