I’m 33 years old. 10 years ago out of college I was making 10.50 an hour.
Today I’m married, house is paid off, and I have 98 catfish ponds on my own operation. 2nd largest operation in humphreys county. Thinking of picking up another 3-400 acres next year.
You have to get out there and make things happen. I tried unsuccessfully twice to obtain my own farm. Finally the perfect storm came together and was able to make it happen. You just have to bust arse, build a good reputation and connect with the right people. The American dream still exists, the problem is most Americans aren’t hungry or determined enough to do what it takes to achieve it. Nobody ever said it was supposed to be fricking easy
