I'm still trying to figure out where Republicans get this from. The absolute GOAT of dirty tricks is Carl Rove, who has been heavily involved in Republican political campaigns since Nixon.
Republicans blame Democrats for dirty tricks, and just say it like its true, like that alone proves it.
It seems to come out when Republicans lose an election. Not that Democrats don't have their own set of excuses, but the dirty trick thing for Republicans is out of left field as far as I can see.

We have. Just in a different fashion. Republicans can’t control the media narrative, so dirty pool has to be restricted to other avenues. But Atwater, Roger Stone and Bannon absolutely excel at some forms of hand-to-hand dirty politics.
