Last I checked we don’t have nets outside our schools because kids keep jumping out of the windows to their death because life is so bad.

Because Rand is such a douchebag libertarian that all he has to hear or believe is "this is a tax increase," and he is immediately dug in to oppose it no matter what... regardless of (1) that not being true; and (2) nuance and the strategy of using the tariffs short-term as a bargaining tool to position the U.S., U.S. businesses, and U.S. citizens/workers in a much better, sustainable scenario for the future of this nation and bringing back the American dream for American citizens.

Nope. For Rand it's, "This is a tax increase, so... NO!" As he stomps his feet, wags his finger and reminds everyone how much better and ideologically pure he is than they are because he's so "principled."

fricking nerd.

Whats your solution for the lower middle and working class? Just frick em?

How much do you want government to help them? At some point they have to be self motivated if they want better for themselves.

Dude, weren't you crying not long ago about a few U.S. park rangers being laid off by OMB?

Not to nitpick, but what age would the Chinese people consider as ‘unethical’ child labor in corporate manufacturing enterprises? A lot work hard in their youth in agrarian cultures with no pay but the food they grow. And could not our forced schooling be defined as ‘work’? We used to haul hay on the local dairy farms and loved that nickel per bale. IMO forced labor is not the same as chosen labor re ethical practices.

We should allow more child labor here. Not 8 year olds, but 12-14 year olds? Sure why not. If they want a job give it to them. They’ll work for minimum wage happily because they’re still under their parents wing so they have no bills. They can gain real world experience and save up for college, a car, whatever.

I had a job at 10 years old in summers working on the catfish farm making 5.50 an hour. Did it every year until I finished college and got several pay raises in that time. By then time I was out of college I had bought 4 vehicles, a four wheeler, and a Honda dirt bike in those 12 years and I had hardly no student loan debt with a 780 credit score. At 22 years old. Now im 34 and have my own large 4 million dollar catfish farm operation and am light years ahead in life of most of my peers.

Having a job growing up will teach you more about life, managing finances and the workplace than any classroom ever will. It’s not a bad thing to allow early teens and up to hold a part time job

So, what is a fair wage? Most of you guys on here hate unions for being too greedy, but a lot of you are sounding like union bosses lately.

The only fair wages are those a boss is willing to pay and the potential employee chooses to accept. Minimum wage is bullshite and it takes away opportunity for unskilled labor to use the one bargaining tool they have to attain a job, offer to work for less in exchange for an opportunity. This comprises of teenagers, physically or mentally disabled, or just people with no job experience or education. Now instead of these groups finding low wage work and work their way up the ladder by gaining experience we just subsidize their lives through entitlements. That’s where the workforce for the menial manufacturing jobs are. We have the people, we just have to fix the system.
