Geneva disagrees. They've called them "war crimes". Either way, it's the Palestinians' land not Israel's.

I think they would disapprove of using civilian children as shields. Don't you?

Wow who's going to school in those "schools" that the U.N found those rockets in?
Who is in those hospitals that Hamas is firing rockets from?

Actually the West created Israel and, therefore, created the problem. Biggest foreign policy blunder of the 20th and 21st centuries.

That may be, but it is done. The habitat has changed so to speak. The argument over whose land it is solves nothing for either side.

This. I do not agree with much of what Israel has done to the Palestinians in this conflict, but Hamas is even worse. Neither side has clean hands. Also, I in no way support U.S. foreign aid to ANY country, let alone Israel or Palestine.

I say Israel existed 2500 years ago.

Actually, the IDF does.

quote:

In a report published Thursday, human rights group B'Tselemsaid that the Israel Defense Forces is still using Palestinian citizens as 'human shields' during dangerous operations.

According to the report, the IDF has, on a number of occasions, violated the High Court of Justice ruling against the use of the 'neighbor procedure,' whereby neighbors of wanted Palestinians are forced to go into the wanted man's house ahead of troops, in case it is booby-trapped.

The human rights organization says that international humanitarian law obliges the army to remove citizens from areas of conflict and to protect them from danger during army operations. "Even if there was no apparent danger to the Palestinian who was used as a 'human shield,' the method is completely illegal," the group says.

And so what? As I said arguing over who has the true "ownership" is silly, it accomplishes nothing. What needs to be done is a recognition of how things are now and work from there to resolve the problem. Extremists on either side arguing the other must go or be wiped from the earth foments the violence.

If you want a legitimate source for the Israeli military using human shields, how about the Israeli military?

LINK
quote:

An Israeli military court convicted two soldiers on Sunday of using a 9-year-old Palestinian boy as a human shield by forcing him to check bags for explosives in Israel’s 2008-9 Gaza war.

The court said that the two soldiers, both infantry sergeants, had taken part in an operation to seize an apartment building in Tel al-Hawa, a southern suburb of Gaza City, while under attack from Hamas fighters.

A summary of the court’s judgment provided by the military spokesman’s office said the two had rounded up civilians and come upon bags in a bathroom. They grabbed the child and ordered him to check the bags for booby traps.
Note that the date on this story is October 2010. It may be instructive to look at Israel's original claims about the story when it was first reported by a UN report in March 2009.

LINK
quote:

Israeli soldiers used an 11-year-old Palestinian boy as a human shield during the war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, UN human rights experts have claimed.

The Israeli Defense force ordered the boy to walk in front of soldiers being fired on in the Gaza neighborhood of Tel al-Hawa and enter buildings before them, said the UN secretary-general's envoy for protecting children in armed conflict.

The boy also was told to open the bags of Palestinians - presumably to protect the soldiers from possible explosives - before being released at the entrance to a hospital, Radhika Coomaraswamy said.

The Israeli army rejected the claim.
"We are an army to which morals and high ethical standards are paramount," said Captain Elie Isaacson.
But they eventually convicted them, right? This proves they're actually the civilized side, right? That this was an isolated incident? Sure. If you think that the times it takes place with enough evidence to convict the soldiers is the only time it happens, period. If you think that, I have some prime real estate to sell you in the Negev.

What percentage of Arabs or Muslilms does it take to make that percentage a problem? Or are they only problematic if 100% of them are?

This was justified in many ways. The indigenous Iberians were defending themselves and their turf from Semitic and Moorish invaders with an agenda.

No different than the Native Americans or Aboriginals of Australia defending themselves from the colonizers.

I don't know. I was just answering the question.
