Maybe but when the leadership of a city won't enforce the law and protect its law abiding citizens they run the risk of it being done for them.
Surely you can see the logic in that

How about Mississippi and Louisiana—-the states with the highest murder rate? That would be a start.

Is the violent crime really that bad in Portland?

Yes—-have they deployed troops to those areas?

Do you count the last 20 years of leftist terrorism as 1 event, break it down by individual incidents, or by timeframe?

That depends on whether you consider overprivileged white kids begging on the street corner for money to pay for their backpacking trips violence.

I can see the logic. But it would be even more logical (1) to use law-enforcement officers instead of military, (2) to not have the President talk about it like it's a war on Democrats, and (3) to actually police the areas that need an increased police presence. In DC, the Guard is apparently downtown and on the mall, not in Anacostia.

Yes, in Memphis, TN. Louisiana's governor has requested troops for New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport. Missouri has authorized guard deployments to assist ICE.
Are you doing the "country dumb" thing or are you really as unaware of current events as your posts in this thread suggest?
