When you worship the state, exposing its lies amounts to blasphemy. That's why many liberals on this board despise Assange and Snowden. They committed the most unforgivable sin: shedding light on the lies and misdeeds of those at the highest levels of American government. This memo has the ability to expose those in power and simultaneously weaken any moral authority they once claimed to have had. For secular liberals who worship the state, this is akin to attacking the church.

I want it released. If it’s truly as bad as you people are screaming, it should be released. If it’s a fantasy work by Nunes, another flop in a long list of tick tock failures, which is the most likely scenario, I want to see it so I can laugh at it.

I remember being on the side of liberals during the Bush years opposing FISA and the Patriot act. I honestly believed they opposed it on principle.

The most ideological consistent group post 9-11 on opposing wars and supporting civil liberties has been libertarian Republicans.
