Why are Americans being directly taxed by the federal government.

I’ve thought about this from time to time and it would seem only logical the state of your residency should be where all taxes are levied. After the state collects the taxes from their citizens then a percentage would be remitted to the federal government to provide for national defense, huge national infrastructure projects, etc. Is this unreasonable?
Of course it’s unreasonable because the Bureaucratic State would collapse if they couldn’t directly tax the American people……and there’s a lot of additional revenue that’s fixin to get collected by another 87k IRS Wokesters who are being trained to harass tens of millions of Americans.

Yes I've contemplated the same thing. The feds should be getting money from the states not the citizens directly. This also empowers the states with leverage of withholding. Proof of the flawed system is the feds outreaching their enumerated powers through bribing the state govs with their citizens own money.

Because the "Progressive Era" gave us the 16th Amendment (as well as 17th through 19th)

It's a great idea. And the federal taxes paid by the states should be based (at least in part) on the number of people actually residing in each state.
That would give the states a big incentive to keep clean records of dead people/voter rolls and expel illegals

We’re on the same page.
I guess that Jekyll Island meeting in 1913 was the template and eventual legislation to enslave the American people under the Federal Reserve/Federal government.
