Sounds like she just had an infection that has cleared up. Dunno about a downhill slope.

It is notable that late in life your immune systems function weakens tremendously.

I wonder if this infection would have even occurred in someone with a healthy immune system. At her age, little things can turn deadly pretty quick. Sounds like she knows it.

Offering an opinion based strictly upon experience I've gleaned through passing family elderly over the years ....

1: Infections begin to happen a lot, from everything, burnt main one is via the mouth. Gum issues, mouth infections that a healthy body fights off .... suddenly they become big things and they can travel to heart valves and the brain in a hurry.

2: The more they are in the hospital the more they are subject to airborne inflections and staff infections from the environment itself.

3: The elderly has issues staying hydrated as time grows near. This is twofold. One is they begin to lack the urge to drink enough fluids and two is that their kidneys are becoming less functional and the body automatically sends signals to slow or shut down intake of fluids to try to relieve some of the pressure on the kidneys. Renal failure is inevitable and causes almost as many deaths to the elderly deemed "natural causes" as does heart failure and moreso than cancer.

4: She will eventually grow tired of fighting it and when that time comes it will happen typically after a sudden uptick, a weekend of reunions or recognition, or the realization that her time is nigh .... then comes the long night and the struggle to last until daylight. I've seen it happen many times.

Daybreak and early morning is when a lot of natural deaths happen.

Her time is growing shorter every day. Signs are that she will not make it another year at the very most and, it will happen while most of us are sleeping. We will wake to the news.

(CNN)Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was released from the hospital and is home after having experienced chills and a fever, the Supreme Court announced Sunday.

"She is home and doing well," A court spokeswoman said.

Ginsburg, 86, was initially evaluated at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, before being transferred to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore Friday night for treatment of any possible infection. The high court said Saturday that Ginsburg's symptoms had abated after receiving IV antibiotics and fluids.

Her hospital trip came just days after Ginsburg returned to the bench after missing a day in court due to a stomach bug. On Friday, Ginsburg had participated in the regular closed-door conference with other justices, according to a court spokeswoman.

OTOH: If she were to pass away soon-- a year away of leaving the seat empty could be made. The Impeachment case-- is so weak -- they couldn't get away with that but they will try. Also: We shouldn't get all jazzed on ACB. Turtle will tell Trump from Trump's list who they can 'get the votes for.'

IOW's: the GOPe will choose like they did moderate KavBaw.

Turtle told Trump who he could 'get the votes for' for Kav; so the GOPe will choose. Also if RBG were to pass soon I think a year w/o a SCOTUS would be the argument and Trump and Turtle would name a replacement quickly.

(Remember when RBG first became ill the Trump admin moved to update as a matter of doing the job and being ready) Who did Turtle choose?

How is it even possible there isn't some reporter stationed at the hospital to get a picture of her leaving the hospital, etc?

Will she be wheeled out the front door for the world to see or taken out in a black van with tinted windows in the basement garage?
Hopefully option 3. Taken out in a body bag in the back of a caddy station wagon.
