They've put themselves in a bad position. If they replace him with Newsome, the party of DEI has to explain why they skipped over the VP, who was obviously appointed for all the boxes she checked, none of which were merit, and chose a white man.

I love it

Harris won't be the VP if it's Newsome. They are from the same state and while there is no constitutional requirement that they be from different states electors from that state can't vote for both Pres and VP. They would have to choose. Losing CA's electoral college votes for Harris would potentially push it to the Senate which votes by state. So no guarantee a Dem is chosen as VP in that instance.

Functionally they could replace him the day of the election and anyone voting for Biden, on the ballot, would be voting for the Dem candidate.

That wouldn't be fair bc you didn't actually vote for the alternate Dem candidate

would look pretty bad to have stacks of ballots with Biden's name on them when he isnt a candidate......

It looked pretty bad having clusters of tens of thousands of ballots marked for Biden and nobody else back in 2020. They don’t give a shite.

DNC made some rule changes that will allow them to name an alternative

Name one or is there some sort of election that would take place?
