Cruz is too valuable in the senate to put him as a SCOTUS.

You won't find a better conservative. They do not exist. The last thing the court needs is another conservative being lost to one of those conservative that somehow never votes in that manner on the big issues.
Unfortunately, Thomas ain’t gonna live forever.

Can we get John Roberts to step down first?
It could, usually most chief justices serve for 15 to 20 years. Roberts was selected by Bush in 2005 after the passing of Rehnquist.
Before him Burger served as Chief justice from 1969 to 85. One thing that could keep Roberts a little longer is that Bush nominated him as chief Justice without any Supreme Court experience since he was in the pipeline to confirmation to fill Sandra Day O’Conner’s seat. Rehnquist’s death in September right before the start of the new term, necessitated a quick appointment and confirmation by the senate. So GWB took the path of least resistance and changed Robert’s appointment to chief justice since he was going through the confirmation process already.
My favorite Supreme Court appointment story is of Louisiana’s only Supreme Court justice, ED White. He was appointed by Democrat Grover Cleveland as an associate justice in 1894 and appointed as Chief Justice by Republican William Howard Taft in 1910.
One story I heard is that Taft wanted to punt the appointment to his successor since ED White was a larger than life figure and could easily croak at any time. White lasted for 11 more years on the court and died in 1921.

Federalist society gave us Amy, right?
Yep, but we were all behind her around here, especially after the hearings. I was her biggest fan. My two libtard atty daughters were hating on her .... which is always a good sign to me.
Amy is proof that women judges are unpredictable. Hell, what's her name, the first woman, the one Reagan nominated .... she was iffy.
Then again, John Roberts has been a disappointment as a Chief Justice, from my perspective. And he seems to always hold sway over the new Conservative justices.

You’re a real winner referring to your own children like that…wonder where they got their moral compasses from?

Alito is also over 70, so he could be stepping down too, and Trump could replace two justices.
Hell, take Amy with them.

He should do it after Congress passes the 2 reconciliation bills they have to work on. That way the Senate doesn’t get bogged down

Judging by her performance recently, give me Bondi.

Their libtard wackadoodle cattywampus mother.
Now, my youngest daughter, the Phd in Clinical Psychology ... she's far more reasonable, like her mother (my second wife) and me. As is our Son, the special one, the truly gifted of all of my progeny. Well, at least the ones that I know of on this continent.

Thomas likely wouldn’t retire until after a Court’s term, this year would be a good time to do it.
