What makes the AR-15 different than any other rifle?

Other than the added bells and whistles?

How many different rifles types are there that fire the same size round as the AR?

A lot of rifles actually shoot many better rounds than .223/.556

The AR 15 platform can handle a huge number of cartridges. From .17 hmr (pellet guns are .177 cal) to the .458 SOCOM and .50 Beowulf.

My youngest son bought a pretty sweet package last year. It was from DPMS and had 4 separate calibers in one case. It had a 5.56, 300 Blackout, 7.62x39 and 9mm. Four barrels and three lowers. Pretty quick change out too. I would like an AR-10 platform.

If they think an AR-15 can be dangerous, they’d really hate my Benelli Super 90 M4.

As stated above the AR is very easy to change barrels which allows are using several bullet sizes.

Shotguns for close range killing would be more lethal. I believe they are forbidden in combat by most countries or some rule of war that countries have agreed to.

Nope.

I’ve had both an 870 for Cop defense and carried a Benelli M4 12-gauge as a people killer in Fallujah. Works good as a breech gun.

00 buck is an angry round when you get hit anywhere with it in close quarters.

I would imagine getting hit even with body armor on would hurt like hell. Even if a pellet didnt hit skin.

I have a friend who is a deputy sheriff who was shot with a .44mag while serving a warrant. It knocked him out. Did not penetrate the vest but broke is sternum. He had a 6" bruise where it hit, and had breathing was painful for weeks later.

Getting hit by any bullet nearly puts you out of commission when it hits a SAPI

The only kinda logical anti-AR15 comment I've ever heard was that its "cool looks" make it more attractive to kids that may come across it in the house and want to play with it, leading to accidents.
