California fails to pass tax hikes on handguns and ammunition

Bill by Marc Levine, a Democrat, would have imposed a 10% tax on handguns and an 11% tax on the sales price of rifles, precursor parts and ammunition.

California already imposes a fee of $37.19 on gun sales, which includes a fee for background checks.

Amazing how we have to now call not getting hammered with another infringement a "win" these days.

Not so much of a 2nd Amendment win as simply a tax win. When we're talking of not being taxed (additionally) to exercise a Constitutional right as a win, we've lost.

You know, for a Party that's constantly screeching about the disenfranchisement of the BIPOC community when it comes to things like voting, they sure don't seem to care about disenfranchising their asses when it comes to the 2nd Amendment.

Truth. It is $30 for a State ID Card in California. $35 for a driver's license. Either of which you need in order to buy a firearm. So, $67-72 on top of the cost of the gun & ammo. For a God given right.

But somehow these ID's are forms of suppression when called for in voting.

Sorry for the hijack but Cali is gone.

Call and email governor Edward's if you live in Louisiana. Let's get a 2A win in our state. He needs to pass SB118 Constitutional Carry into law.

This is like when republicans celebrate “blocking” a Democrats bill in house. You should celebrate a stalemate. You celebrate a win after you counter and pass legislation to protect them from adding another bill full of fat to the table
