Sadly the media gives the ones making the political statement all of the attention especially if their cause is liberal. Of course consrvatives respect the office even if opposed to the politics.

Ehh, why? People are entitled to their opinions. If someone strongly dislikes someone there is probably no appeal from their perspective to meet them regardless of position.

Cora, a native Puerto Rican, didn't go because of how the fed government handles Puerto Rico's damages from Hurricane Maria.
His reasons for not going are a lot more concrete than the reasons other people haven't gone.

I don't like Trump at all but I would definitely go to the White House. To each their own I reckon. People have reasons for the things they think and do.

Oh I think you absolutely can (although it seems like some people can’t) But just shaking someone’s hand when you randomly happen to see them is different from going out of your way to go on a trip to do it. I can just see how it wouldn’t be worth it for some of his die-hard haters.

He knows better but its politcilly cool to make a false statemetn. Puerto Rico was in poor shape before the hurricane and has squandred much of the federal aid through incomepetence and corruption.
