A man and a woman were arrested after they were accused of robbing three Hispanic men at gunpoint over a three-day period this week, according to East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office arrest reports.

Deputies said 22-year-old Darrick Turner, 24-year-old Laquita Williams and another man, who was not identified, went on an armed robbery spree Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at area businesses and an apartment complex, according to their arrest reports.

Turner and Williams robbed the first man of his debit and credit cards around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of the Alco Food Mart and Deli in the 10600 block of Airline Highway, according to the reports.

Deputies said while Williams distracted the victim, Turner walked up to him, pressed a silver semi-automatic pistol in his stomach and Williams demanded his money.

"You Mexicans have money all of the time," Turner said, according to his arrest report.

The next day around 7:30 p.m., Turner and the unidentified man robbed another Hispanic man at gunpoint of $280 in cash, an iPhone and vehicle keys in a parking lot 0.1 miles away from the Tuesday location, according to the report. Deputies said the men approached the victim as he was washing his car at the Airline Car Wash in the 10500 block of Airline Highway.

The victim did not speak English, but told deputies that he understood the words "money, cellphone and keys."

Deputies responded to a third armed robbery around 9:45 p.m. Thursday at an apartment in the 900 block of Hammond Manor after two men used a black handgun and demanded the vehicle keys from a Hispanic man who was walking to his apartment. As the deputy drove toward the robbery, he saw the vehicle — that was captured on the carwash surveillance video — on Coursey Boulevard and tried to pull it over, but the driver led the deputy on a chase exceeding 90 mph, according to the report.

The driver eventually crashed into the curb at the Magnolia Trace apartments in the 11500 block of North Harrells Ferry Road, according to the report. Deputies arrested Williams, who was sitting in the back seat, but Turner and a second man ran away. Turner was stopped after he was chased by a police dog, and he was later taken to a hospital for minor treatment for bite wounds, according to the report. It does not appear the second man was caught, according to the report.

Williams and Turner both denied any involvement in the armed robberies, according to the report. Deputies said they found a black 9mm handgun, a cellphone with Spanish as the selected language, a wallet with a Hispanic man's ID, $110 cash and credit cards in Turner's possession when he was arrested. Turner told deputies that he got the gun from a friend and a "youngster in the meadows" sold him the phone. Deputies said Turner is a convicted felon and is not allowed to have a gun.
