India has 1.4 billion people so your statement doesn't hold merit.
If you prefer not to think, sure.

He's a brilliant guy but inevitably wrong in this case. The reason is strictly and 100 percent financial. Not about IQ, not about culture.
It’s financial but they can also work these people to the bone knowing there are 10,000 others that will take their place if they quit or can’t hack it.
H1Bs really are about culture. They’re about a corporate culture that uses humans as disposable, interchangeable commodities at the lowest price possible.

I would highly suggest people not work for corporations.

I’ve worked for a few and soulless doesn’t begin to describe these places

Yeah, its horrible. Corporate HR is draconian.

I wholeheartedly agree. The wife and I own a business and there is no way in hell I would ever go back to working corporate again. It was fine when I was younger but having seen the other side of things makes you realize just how crappy office jobs are and corporate culture is Godawful. Be free and work for yourself. The money and benefits are better.

People could cripple corporations if they chose to support small business instead.
The "dollar vote" is a powerful principle.

HR isn’t even the worst enemy. Upper management is.

Doubtful. Not sure what industry you are in but i have seen a lot of talented engineers thrown away with the forced package type offers. No room for them but plenty of room for others or offshoring.
I am in the oil and gas sector primarily. Let’s clarify something, because I too have seen 50+ year old talented engineers let go. This has happened in the teeth of horrific downturns like the one in 2014/15/16. We let go a lot of very talented people. It felt like I was cutting off my arm. But we would have perished if we hadn’t done it.
We are a service company, and I think every other service company had the same story. The oil companies were a little bit different story. The independents tended to hold onto their technical staff and cut the projects going to the service companies, so we ended up doing their downsizing. The majors gave out packages and forced retirements. They obviously had the capitalization to carry that staff, but they had a duty to their investors to limit losses. We can argue about that all day, but any engineers laid off would have had a tough time for a year or two, but by 2017, in the aforementioned downturn, they’d have been employed if they were good. And they certainly were not replaced with H1Bs. The oil companies had simply become bloated and needed to operate more efficiently. They are still bloated, in my opinion.
