I attended a concealed carry course of instruction at a local gun range.
It covered all I needed to apply for a CC credential except for the Physician approval.

I forwarded the form to my primary care physician.

I expected a prompt response with the normal, thank you for your service.

I am a retired soldier who utilizes the VA for most of my health care.
I am happy with the care I receive.

I was am still pissed off with the reply I received.

This is another form of gun control.
Pure and simple.
Remove veterans' ability to acquire a permit by denying physician approval.

I called the LA State Police CC Division and was told by a Trooper that it is no problem.
Go to a Doc In A Box or an ER and have the MD fill out the form.
It is about your current mental or medical state, not past history.

The only reason LA has a permit requirement is because LA legislators have never met a fee that they don't love.

Red flag legislation is designed for this, 100%.
Every Vet that receives care can be shut down and have their firearms confiscated.

Common sense gun legislation.......

It stupid—like marijuana, they need to remove the physician element from it. Docs have no place getting involved in who can or can’t concealed carry. I’m a doc too btw.

you no longer need a permit to carry if youre a veteran. you just need to have a veteran status on your license, official veteran status card, or DD214. It was passed last week

What if you had a patient that was severely bipolar and refused medication. Would you recommend them for a concealed carry permit?

Yes, that went into effect on 1 August.

Honor Code himself signed it into law.

The issue is that if I leave LA, there is no reciprocity honored by other states.
I need the CC credential like anyone else.
Or, they can jail me for exercising my natural right.

Don’t need shite to carry concealed in Georgia . It’s our constitutional right.

I didn’t realize a doc had to sign off on CC. When did that happen?

Again, it’s not the doctor’s place to make that decision legally. I’ll treat the bipolar best of my abilities but our job is not to fix society.

The 2A is all I need. I don’t even really need that. My rights are God given.

The forms ask if you have ever been treated for depression.
I was, more than a decade ago right after retirement.
I thought nothing of it.
I will send it to my Dr and move forward.
The issue is that the VA drs are now forbidden from signing off.
Gun control.

He plainly stated doctors have no place in determining that one way or the other.

That is a great sentiment.
I agree.
The issue comes when you put your God Given Right into action.
Save your life, your family's, a stranger's?
Do you feel confident in your local government's view of the 2A?
I don't.
I am dotting Is and crossing Ts.

We all live under the same Constitution.

We all need to reclaim our rights.

Stop asking the government for permission to do what the constitution says you can do.

Our prisons were once filled with dumbasses that sold weed.

It will be filled with dumbass "patriots" who don't see their vulnerability in the current environment.
We will fix it, don't be self-inflicted before that happens.

You don’t do that by “dotting I’s & crossing T’s”
You do that by exercising you God given rights afforded to us under the 2A
