Used to be when black kids used big words or raised their hands in class or otherwise showed an interest in academic advancement, some of the black kids would make fun of them and tell they were “acting white”.
I’d hope we’ve come a long way from that mentality but maybe not. There is no reason why, in today’s advanced technological world that a person can’t have a sophisticated vocabulary.
The only reason would be willful self denial.
And that’s a shame
