They are. Are you so ignorant as to think they will last in perpetuity...and that is the cause of the increased wages?
So you don't think the tariffs have anything to do with the wage increase? Not trolling, just trying to understand your position

This shite is absolutely impossible... No way it happened, got to be fake news...
Holy crap has anyone seen IBsuckingChinaoff lately? Not that I am concerned or anything...

But i thought the tariffs were temporary
They are and can be temp long enough for the US steel industry to regain its competitiveness with the Chinese and Indians (dot not Warren). The wage hikes can be supported in an environment with a level playing field.
Then we will elect a dumb arse demoncrat or globalist and will return to the spot we were in a few years ago again.
This is a real boost to the middle class and the rust belt. Great news right before midterms...

quote:Good for them. And nobody should have suspected those in the industry wouldn’t benefit from the policies meant to benefit the industry, although it’s better that the workers benefit than just the execs.
The newest contract between the union and U.S. Steel certifies that the U.S. steelworkers will see a 14 percent wage hike over the next four years, marking the largest pay increase for steelworkers in six years.
That being said, if the downstream workers and the consumers are negatively impacted, then the problems could easily offset and surpass the benefits.
And personally when the government meddles, I think the negative costs on workers/businesses downstream, and/or consumers, the benefits should significantly exceed those costs to justify them.

One of the local unions had Beto and other Dem campaign signs outside their office.
Their leadership is hardcore socialist left. They will vote money out of their members pockets and tell them its for their own good.
Trumka would go to the mat for a greenie like Hickenlooper, knowing it will directly hurt his own members, as long as it helps The Party.

And with inflation and the currency low in employment environment, a 3.3% increase is not something that would be surprising for anyone, let alone an industry specifically targeted and with the worker benefits of a union negotiation.

No, this is a policy of economic nationalism.
Socialism isn't tariffs on external private goods to increase native private industries, its nationalizing those private industries altogether.

It's guaranteed 14% over the next four years. That's huge. Don't try to down play it.

In other words, the Trump economy is roaring. Go ahead- you can say it.

This is so predictable and you fools celebrate.
You are paying these ridiculous union wage increases.
If the democrats Ross and Navarro ever lose power and the tariff on steel is eliminated there will be steel layoffs and bankruptcies as have been the story in steel for fifty years.
They get protectionist tariffs, spend the profits and then lose the tariffs and shutdown mills.
