Keep up mental midget. This is about a “guest” supporting terrorism and disrupting the life of US Citizens. Would you be okay if we allowed an Afrikaner into the United States to study at LSU and him violently leading a group to take over a building calling for Apartheid?

What if he lead a seditious conspiracy against the US government?

Ummm, is the person in question a “guest” in this nation (on a VISA or Green Card)?

Why does that matter? Is there constitutional support for the distinction?

How many are foreigners?

Why not point out Adam Schiff who lied about evidence against a sitting President? How about Hillary and the DNC’s Russian Collusion Hoax?

Ummm, it is in the purview of the Secretary of State per the regulations in VISAs and Green Cards. In fact I am pretty sure there is case law supporting it.

Cool post. I didn’t see anything about the constitution. I certainly didn’t see any originalist interpretation of the constitution.

Are you a free speech absolutist or are you not?

Quit being disingenuous. I am support free speech for US Citizens. This given situation is a foreigner invited into our nation to get an education and he leads a disruptive and sometimes violent year long protest. If it was just speech it is one thing but it is about conduct. We will likely see who or what was sponsoring the CUAD.

In fact if he applied for a permit and lead a protest outside of the University without harassing other students I doubt there would be an issue! In this case and others it wasn’t what occurred.

I’m not being disingenuous. The free marketplace of ideas exists no matter the physical location of where the idea generates.

Your world has Einstein and von Klaus expelled if they express a political opinion repugnant to the executive in power.

You’re trying to draw a distinction without a difference in the citizen versus immigrant argument.

The Founders did not do that for good reason.

And even more current, as you and Elon are free speech absolutists, you’re telling me this guy can spout his nonsense on X, unfettered, but it’s a problem if he does it physically in New York at Columbia University?

Square those two ideas for me.

They didn’t and were perfect guests so try another example.
Edit: Einstein got his citizenship in 1940…..

Where is it written that founders did not differentiate between citizens and “guests”?

From AI:

quote:

non-citizens can participate in demonstrations and protests without fear of government restriction, as long as they comply with local laws and regulations.

Did the organization he lead abide by all laws and regulations? Were US Citizens harassed? Was property vandalized? Was that organization sponsored by external (to the United States) influencers to include nation states?

Once again you can’t grasp this isn’t about free speech, it is about conduct! I said it earlier, had he applied for a protest permit and abided by the laws and regulations I would have no issue whatsoever. He did not and lead a sometimes violent attack on a campus.

A lot of my post went over your head. Ask AI to explain it to you. Then actually read. And start with John Stuart Mill and touch on Voltaire and Brandeis along the way.

Here’s a starting point for you: LINK

This entire thread is going over many heads…..which isn’t hard in your case. I don’t give a flying frick about Voltaire. In fact go deep throat him if you want. The fact is the a-hole is a guest of the USA and his ACTIONS caused this.
