The data has been manipulated for decades - including changes to the methodology by which it’s calculated.
I don’t see how anyone that is suspicious of the embedded bureaucracy with all of the grift and fraud and self dealing that goes on could also belief they’re totally honest and accurate with financial indicators that affect markets and public perception.
