My husband and I both voted straight red, and we’re unaffiliated voters.

I’ll admit that I don’t typically pay much attention to how states usually vote. I know Cali votes dem etc- the obvious ones. And that basically the coast is blue.

Illinois....
Why do the Dems have such a big lead there? Is that normal? If so, I’m guessing Chicago. If so, seems like they would have FINALLY learned that the Dems don’t give a rat’s behind about them.....

And Iowa? What’s up with them? They’re farmers. Seems like they’d vote red—especially after that illegal immigrant killed Mollie Tibbets.

And NO saying an illegal killed someone is NOT the same as saying all illegals are killers. Yes homegrown American’s kill too, but we can’t control the citizenship of natural born Americans. They live here. But we CAN/SHOULD control who gets through the borders. And the only way to do that is vote red.

Iowa disappointments

And regardless of these results, Colorado has a D+1 Partisan Index (essentially a 2 point D advantage over GOP) while California is D+12 (more like a 24 advantage). So the early voting only confirms that it’s nothing like California.

And it also seems to have a different mentality than California anyways with a much more libertarian bent for both the Rs and Ds.

The population of Illinois is 12.8 million.

The population of the Chicago metro area is 9.5 million.

For all intents and purposes, the city of Chicago controls the entire state of Illinois because the entire state lives in Chicago.

Do you realize how many of us older folks are registered Democrats who never changed our cards. When young people see their first pay check and begin to realize how many people are living without having to work because they are taxed to death to make it possible, vote Republican. Very few take the time and effort to change their voter registration cards.
