It's amazing how one cancerous organization (United Airlines) can totally destroy a great one (Continental Airlines) through a merger.

Amen brother. Amen.

I remember right after the merger former Continental crews would announce they were former Continental crews and the passengers would cheer.

It took some time, but United's rotten culture finally erased the last vestiges of Continentalness.

This incident really is just the ultimate symbol of the all-pervading United Attitude of "It's Us Against Our Customers". It's amazing how perfectly, and dramatically it capures their corporate culture. I laughed when I first heard about it because of how sadly well-suited a symbol it is for them.

This event IS United. It's why, after several awful experiences with them, I'll fly north from Bergstrom to DFW and sometimes pay more to take American (which isn't much better but at least doesn't seem to *actively* hate their customers) only to go south again rather than flying through from AUS through IAH and having to take United for any reason.

Really though, wtf is the public gonna do? The airlines have us by the balls. Delta, united and American all suck, and they suck because they CAN suck with little to no impact to their bottom line. "The market will react" is bullshite. They do what they do because there's nothing the market can do to stop them. Period. What you frickers gonna do? Drive? Lmfao!!

Why is there a limit?

A truism.

But what if the board took the opposite position? What would you say then?

This is what gets me on the guys side. I read Delta can offer up to 1200 if need be. Of course they only went to 800 in this instance. Sounds like some pencil pusher wanted to save a few hundred bucks.

I have to think at least several people would've offered up their seat for 1,200 + hotel. I know I would most likely of.

I don't know or care what position the board has on this.

We love for companies to be able to do what they want, until we don't.

According to Reddit someone offered to deplane for more than $800 and was laughed at. Just the couple hours of cleaning the plane of blood without the negative media attention would have been worth that.

Delta will at least treat you like a semi-human. United staff and crew are *actively* rude and nasty. They go out of their way to be terrible. It's really a remarkable thing.

United in Chicago is the worst of all worlds. They truly just don't GAF. And you can't make them.

Went to get my luggage after my flight was cancelled and was informed that it was too close to shift change to expect them to get it for me that evening. It would be delivered the following day.

Exactly.

Hell, hiring a van service to drive the employees the 3.5-4 hours to Louisville or even chartering a Net Jet type executive plane would have been cheaper by orders of magnitude than the settlement they're going to pay this guy and the cost of the mountain of bad PR, which is monumental.

I'd love to see the bill for the special crisis PR firm they'll hire in the next day or so.

No. I just have a memory that lasts longer than a few weeks. You were in the Board Contrarian thread a few weeks back bragging that you liked to take positions contrary to the board (not that everyone above a room temperature IQ hadn't already figured that out).

I've f-you bombed two women in my life and one was a United flight attendant. They're just twats to everyone. It's astounding how far outside of normal human decency and decorum their attitudes and behavior have drifted due to their corporate culture not only failing to correct it, but actually seemingly encouraging them to all be total assholes.

What's weird about it?

I remember the same thread. You admitted that what you do on here is argue the opposite of the general consensus on any issue.
