I do not hate our free market system, nor do I want to "force" biased journalists to be more fair.

I'm just saying that the fact that something "sells" to the public does not excuse journalists that are misleading, dishonest, and not well-rounded in their presentation of an issue. That goes for fox, cnn, and any others.

Journalism should be about presentation of the facts and getting to the truth. A corrupt democrat shouldn't be left alone because investigation into them wouldn't "sell"

I find it hilarious that so called "journalists" these days are blatantly dishonest and overt about their left leaning biased then say they are beyond reproach when they're called out on it.

Oh yeah man, Democrats hate it!

Not sure why you would say that, it's right up their alley - Big Brother watching everything we do? They were creaming themselves when the Republicans came up with it.

It doesn't excuse them, it rewards them - because it sells.

Apparently our system isn't set up for altruism - unless altruism pays. That doesn't seem to be the case in this particular market.

You think the media operates in a free market?

Are you not free to set up your own media outlet?

If you find the demand isn't being met in the marketplace for a particular widget, supply the widget you think will satisfy the demand.

...or, start manufacturing mousetraps.

I wasn't referring to Bill Clinton

Why not? It's the precedent that the Republicans themselves set.

Didn't the Dems renew it?

Yes, of course they did. Why wouldn't they? the Republicans are supposed to be the party to counter the governmental overreach of the Democrats, instead they were complicit. I predicted at the time that the Democrats would use it against them eventually - because that's what Democrats do.

That's not journalism. Well, it's yellow journalism.

So what? You can't force a demand for objective journalism on a free market. All you can do is educate the populace in an effort to make them hungry for truth.

...or, you can bitch and moan about how stupid consumers are all the while destroying the public education system. After all, there is little demand for savvy consumers in the marketplace, and therefore very little incentive to actually educate people.

The key point is that they didn't favor one candidate over the other.

I agree, see my earlier posts in this thread.

You wouldn’t have this particular Russia investigation, but you’d have one with much less coverage.

But you would still have distrust broiling in the system. Trump, when he thought he was losing was planting that seed and the troll farms were there to hype it.

The Russians wanted turmoil, the winner of the election was irrelevant.
