If I remember correctly we have to jump through a million hoops to get our ships through the Bosphorus. And I don't care about defending Europe anymore.

Tuborg is bottled by Effies in Turkey. Little quality control, you could drink a hundred of them and only pee, the next night get stomped on about 4.

Well technically its their base.

What's funny is that our GWOT effort has hinged on governments that most people despise. Turkey, Kuwait, Saudi, Qatar and Jordan have been in on this shite from day one. All predominantly Muslim countries, and one damn near Islamic state.
How people don't know this is a fricking mystery to me. When we talk about Israel people get so mad when it's pointed out that they haven't done even 1/10th of 1% of any random one of these countries. Hell, Lebanon provides us with more direct benefit, at a far lower cost, and we don't do much of anything there except build THEIR capabilities through CNTs.

Hahahaha I had no idea. Someone has a black market beer operation running straight into Northern Iraq that is making BANK in Mosul and the Yezidi areas (RIP).

Was stationed there in 94. Stayed drunk the entire time. Best 15 months I barely remember.

quote:Yup, a buddy got a case of Effies and got through about two cans before he gave up, he even tried to dilute it by adding it to the Tuborg, no go, it was as skunk assed shite as you could get. we ended up chucking it out.

We brought several cases of Miller to a club, the Albatros I think it was called. They let us bring it in. Later had to take the remainder to our Turk friends car because all their customers were buying our beer instead of the bars

This
and this
Don't go together. If we even suggest that we want other countries to just fulfill their minimum NATO responsibilities, then all hell breaks loose and we are abandoning our allies.
Trump should tell them that we will be there on our terms, or Turkey can leave NATO. We foot the bill. We make the rules.

Times changed, now you can't go off base.
It's becoming a deployment for some and a remote for others. No dependents

Didn't get to that bar. Had a blast in Alanya (sp?), hooked up with a British chick on vacation. Went to (not even gonna try to spell this one) topless beach. On base we drank at the NCO club during our lunch breaks lmao
