Seems disturbingly familiar.

Yup.

I think a lot about why the UK is particularly cucked. I don't use that word lightly, I don't know how else to describe the place at this point.
It faces the same problems as the rest of Europe, but I think some other states are equipped to handle it better or at least manage their own decline better while retaining some sense of identity. Greece and Italy are common examples, as they're corrupt, largely useless, comically mismanaged and inept nations that nonetheless aren't entirely ashamed of themselves. But the UK and Germany stand out. The latter is obviously due to a deep nationalized self-loathing that alongside the rest of the self-destructive policies of Europe over the last 3 decades has become just a sociopathic death wish.
The UK is different IMO (we can probably put Canada in a similar boat). The cultural strengths of the UK aren't all that culturally distinct anymore - they've been taken and improved and appropriated by other Western nations, most notably the US, and then fed back to them often in a much worse form. It's increasingly a museum country where things used to be thought about, made, sold, etc. London of course remains an economic powerhouse, but it's an increasingly untethered, rootless one. Watching the UK and Canada take our absolute worst exports (CRT/DEI obsession, trans obsession, etc.) and embrace them with gusto is just embarrassing. It's like watching your war veteran grandpa use teenage slang.
Whereas I think you could get an enthusiastic answer to "what is the US all about" talking to a random black guy on a city street in America (good or bad), in the UK it's likely to be a stuttering non-response because there isn't a response. The UK is the nation state equivalent of the postwar consensus - everything that inspires passion, hate, power, etc. has been slowly killed off.
To me, it's like the adage of apathy being worse than hate. If many states, including our own, may be failing due to "hate" - the UK (and perhaps Canada) are failing due to apathy. People will fight over hate, to save or to kill or what have you. The UK can't even identify what it hates, or anything it wants to save.
